This was a nice hotel experience for us and the price was relatively good for a ryokan. We actually got an option without the in-room meal, which we really enjoyed because of the nearby udon and freedom it gives us. the fact that they provide such an option is really a good quality of the hotel. ||||The room was clean and the bath was quite nice. They change the baths in the morning so it is possible to experience both types of baths. One bath has a "warm" sauna rather than hot and the other bath has several different varieties of herbal baths.||||Walking around you can find a lot of different kinds of art and pottery, some of it very large and nice. We noticed a lot of people just ignoring all this, so it is worth stopping and taking a look around if you go to the hotel. They also had a robot in the lobby for the kids to play with.||||The room came with quite a few sweets and complimentary tea. More sweets than I am used to receiving in hotels, even in Japan. It also came with all the usual amenities.||||The staff were fine and accommodating. we had no issues. Parking was also free if you stay the night, which is much cheaper than the 1000 yen charged for people just visiting the...
Read moreSo, here we are Kotahara Onsen, in the Kagawa Prefecture! Oh my, a real Temple/Shrine destination! Other major attractions are usually 30-45 minutes drive! This place is a city, but feels like a village!
The hotel, 3 star, we booked the Japanese Suite, with internal hot spring bath! That was truly magic, but rest of the hotel, oh well, manpower shortage & inflexibility showed, (until the duty manager arrived , speaking English and accommodated) so the Covid restrictions still show, amazing they still managed!
Another decent experience here was the Japanese Restaurant, we had booked ( I guess by my mistake) half or semi board, so dinner was included! Full KaiSeki meal, which was actually quite decent! Ok not 5 star but for families real good, especially the sashimi fresh and the Shabu Shabu real good!
Only issue, damn portions too big!
Breakfast was a reflection of a Railway Station! 😂😂😂 Ballroom converted into a breakfast Center, packed with people of all walks, I guess primarily pilgrims, food was ok, but best scrambled eggs on any buffet I ever head, not the usual hotel bastardisation they call scrambled on buffets! The rest...

From Takamatsu Airport, it takes less than an hour by direct airport limousine bus, allowing guests to experience the luxury of checking into a hot spring inn shortly after landing.
The rooms are spacious and impeccably clean, making my stay very relaxing. Guests staying in the Hitenkan (飛天館) building have access to a special, more secluded onsen bath—which is wonderfully peaceful and quiet.
The meals are also meticulously arranged. Dinner can be served in a private dining room, providing a quiet and elegant experience.
The hotel staff were attentive and highly responsive. I once emailed them from the JR train just 30 minutes before arriving at Kotohira Station, asking if a pick-up could be arranged. They responded promptly and arranged it without issue.
I look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you for a...
