The hotel overall was just a bit too average. There was no parking at the hotel and nearby parking was pretty expensive as they charge you every 12 hours rather than 24 hours. So, for one day of parking, the cost was over 1200 yen. ||||The hotel itself has only one elevator and no inside stairs. So, it is often a long wait for the elevator. Although there is a sign in the hotel warning people not to take the elevator at busy times, that of course is silly. Those times are busy because people are choosing the best times to go somewhere or come back.||||The hotel has a lot of noise from neighbors as well and it does not make for a good sleep, generally. I strongly suggest bringing earplugs for this hotel. ||||The bath was again quite average. It smelled a bit too chlorinated for an onsen, and there were only 3 wash stations. They even recommend that you might have to wait to wash during busy times. There are a lot of these kinds of "warnings" in the hotel asking you not to do x during the busy times. I think it would simply make more sense to remodel or improve the situation so that there is not as much congestion.||||The two more positive things about the hotel are the location and the fact that they did not violate the law by asking foreigners for more information than they are entitled to. The location is very near the station, so if you take the train, that can be very positive. In addition, they seemed to be used to foreign residents going to the hotel and did not demand to see a passport that I am not required to carry or any other form of ID that they are not entitled to see based on the law. So, the staff seem to be well-trained in...
Read more|A great stay. Lovely comfortable room with a sofa and a desk. The décor was nice. The bed was against the wall which was fine but the down side was very unusual for Japan in that it was a bit too soft! The bathroom is really small but the shower was the best we had in 6 weeks of travelling in Japan. The toiletries were good as well. We loved the big tub downstairs and the massage chair. The microwave was great for our breakfast as we had brought our own bowls and oats along. Laundry facilities were good and the hotel is very convenient from the station. The quickest way is if you leave the station and walk on the upper level past Starbucks you can cross over the road by the walkway and down on the opposite side of the main road. There are stairs and the escalator didn’t always work during our stay. There is only one lifts so leave enough time for checkout in case it’s busy and you have a bit of a wait. There is a really friendly English speaking reception team. It was my birthday and with advance notice they had decorated the room with banners and balloons. A really nice touch! The hotel is right at an arcade with shops, lovely pottery shops and restaurants that leads out the BikanHistorical Quarter. There is a wonderful coffee shop in the arcade with the best coffee we found in Japan. It’s nicely decorated with wooden furnishings and sells coffee beans too. As you leave the arcade area, be sure to stop and buy some bean paste filled pancakes from the lovely elderly couple. They are so cheap and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay...
