Achi Shrine — Attraction in Kurashiki

On our walking tour to Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, we passby this shrine. It's a nice Shinto shrine located at the side corner of the street and the main building is on top of the hill which visitors need to walk up flight of steps.

And unlike other shrines, this is a less crowded one and quiet, which is good as visitors can enjoy the peace, calmness and tranquility while walking in its ground.

Good place to visit if you are...

Two scores for me. Beautiful woodwork architecture of light wood as opposed to the dark wood prevalent in those era. Gives it a modernist feel despite its age. Exceptionally well maintained and beautifully preserved. Secondly, it’s location on a small hilltop presents spectacular views of the city below. Being right next to the Tsurugatayama-koen garden also imparts it with an elevated sense of calmness...

A nice shrine located uphill from one of the main pedestrian roads.

It is definitely a nice place but compared to other ones we saw in Japan it did not enter my top five for sure! With that being said it is still a very quiet place far from the busy and buzzing streets where you can enjoy some silence.
