everything is bad except for the location. first, when we first arrived they told us to give their car keys such that they will drive our car to somewhere else. its tedious that i need to take a shuttle to the carpark! isnt the carpark supposed to be near the hotel building? second when we mentioned that we would like to hv dinner at 5 since we would like to watch the fireworks show, he refused. he said we need to wait until 3pm to confirm our dinner schedule, but its actual annoying that i need to come back for checkin in the afternoon instead of sightseeing. also, theres no openair bath in the onsen area and the onsen area is so small... after we get to the room, its totally another world, so bad design... the toilet is specifially small and theres even bad smell in the room. only 2 sockets available in the room, so i only get 1 to use after connecting one to the humidifier. the tv is very old and obviously they should spend more money renovating the rooms instead of the lobby. when we went for dinner, i found out 2 bones in 2 tuna pieces out of 4 and when i tell the staff, no one is apologizing..? gosh, its just lucky that i didnt get hurt... its so careless to do so... the conclusion is totally not worth to stay in this hotel unless you think its acceptable paying $2200hkd(ard $300usd) a night for a room like this... ps the fireworks on the lake only 5mins... so short and not worthy to...

The standard room (renovated) with lake view is highly recommended. Some Japanese style rooms do not have lake views, but they are more reasonable .
The public bath is cozy and clean, and it was just enough for me. It's directly flowing from the source. You can use public baths of the same group hotels in the neighbor by using free shuttle bus service.
The breakfast is just fine but it was surprising that it opened at 7:02 (which should open at 7:00 and I have never seen such place which opens late in entire Japan, specially when its obvious that customers are waiting). Also, I ordered grilled fish, and it was COLD. Moreover, some Sashimi smells bad. I DO NOT recommend that you include breakfast if it's for a fee.
In conclusion, the only pity thing about the hotel is the service. You feel that people can not offer something more than expected due to lack of thought. The service is MANUAL, which could be improved that could even make the hotel...
Read moreLove this hotel . Highly recommended. Hotel is new and still can smell the fragrance of the wood when entering into main lobby. We arrived early and managed to park ard 100m away fm hotel under the instructions of the Hotel staff guarding the entrance. Buffet dinner spread is very sumptuous and delicious. We travelled in a group of 9 and everyone was happy. Breakfast will be tomorrow and I am writing the review on first night of stay. We walked to nearby forest trail and mud volcanoes. We also took a walk along the lake. Very good weather at end April. Only complaint is the water pressure on 6th floor is very bad . Water supply is low. Flow of water is bad too. Didn’t try the onsen though. There is an outdoor foot bath opposite the main entrance of hotel. There is an option to visit the large onsen at the sister property which is around 800m away. Free shutter bus running on fixed time schedule available. For anyone visiting Lake Akan, I would suggest you can consider this hotel :) Washing machine available...
