Pretty standard izakaya fare. We did find that most of the veggies were pretty lightly seasoned and this was maybe the biggest detractor. Aside from that we really enjoyed everything. The squid was great.
Worth calling out - our waitress: first off, she was great. In a touristy town she was still friendly and simply a good host. (There is definitely an air of tourism burnout here in general, so it’s worth calling out how nice she was) but to really top things off, when we went to pay she basically insisted that we pay with the small mountain of smaller coins that I had accumulated. Maybe they like having smaller change, I don’t know. But regardless, it takes a special person to wait for a dumb tourist to rifle through 1500 yen in loose coins for exact change.

Read moreWe love this place. The atmosphere made us feel very local and warm. The owners were not just polite but also warm and friendly. We had the deer meat don, hotpot udon, tonkotsu ramen and chicken and port skewers. All were very tasty. One must note that the serving portion was quite generous which really made it worthwhile. They were so yummy that despite over-ordering, we still managed to finish all. Oh! We didn’t order the Morimojito but the owner gave our boys two jelly which looked exactly like that. Such a lovely experience! Will definitely visit again if we ever come back to...

For dinner, we had butter grilled scallops, chicken yakitori, grilled stuffed chicken wings and gyoza (fried dumplings). They don't rush the service either. High recommended!!! The location is in the main area of Lake Akan Onsen. Wonderful place to start if you want to walk...
