The hotel was located about 5 minutes walk from the Karusuma Oike subway station. It is about 5 minutes walk to a Family Mart and MOS burger outlet. The apartment was self-sufficient as it has a washer-dryer, a microwave over, a stove and pots and pans if you decide to cook. It also has a refrigerator. The apartment was spacious at 85sqm and it has 2 shower and toilet areas. The shower area sand toilets were separate, which is common in Japan. The shower area was big for Japanese standards and it comes with a shower and bathtub. Toiletries like body soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided but not toothbrush or toothpaste. There is also a washer-dryer in the apartment. Do take note that it can get cold in the apartment especially in the evening but switching on the air-con/heater unit helped a lot in keeping the apartment warm. The WIFI strength in the apartment was strong and download speed was fast. Though the apartment was located in a quiet area, my family and I loved it. Trust me, stay further away from the Kyoto Station area if you can as it is swarming with tourists. Unlike the other 2 Mimaru apartments we stayed in Osaka and Tokyo, this Kyoto apartment had a small ledge in the toilet above the toilet roll holders. Another positive thing was there was a 2 pin wall socket next to the bed which you can plug in your universal travel adapter. The staff at the front desk were polite and professional and they were helpful in sharing with us what we could do during our stay. They also helped booked a taxi for us to Kyoto Station as we headed to Tokyo a few days later. The taxi service was complimentary. As we were staying in another Mimaru Suites apartment in Tokyo, our luggage was delivered for us to our next accommodation the day before our departure, which was very helpful. It was also complimentary and the front desk staff helped sort out all the paperwork for us. One thing to note is there is no breakfast area in the Mimaru Suites Kyoto Central though there is a coffee and tea machine at the lobby, which is free. If we are ever in Kyoto again, will definitely want...
Read moreAbsolutely the best apartment/hotel experience we have ever had. The rooms were amazing-huge with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen area, dining room, tatami mat area, and a washer/dryer. They had a humidifier unit, great heating and cooling units in every room. ||We had the western style unit and our son had half western (2 beds) and half Japanese (beds on the floor). ||The location was fabulous and the front desk employees were absolutely fantastic. We have traveled all over the world and stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world but never experienced customer service like we did here. They really enjoyed getting to know our family and loved kids. In fact there are toys in the lobby! The staff loved helping us in any way possible and they went out of their way to assist us with recommendations on places to go, change reservations for us, get taxis for us and were delightful every time we saw them. They could simply not do enough for us and our family. Side note: My husband was in the hotel business for over 20 years and said it was one of the best experiences he has had in an apartment/hotel. ||We arrived with 10 of us in tow, 7 adults and 3 young children (ages 4, 1 1/2 and 1 3/4) . We had 3 suites which could not have worked out better. This allowed the grandparents to go out and about while the younger parents cooked breakfast and had dinner in house. ||This Mimaru location had maybe 20 suites, 2 on each floor which was great as it allowed the kids to wander between rooms as they were in the only two suites on floor 5. ||When we left today to return home, the staff gave our 4 year old a beautiful fan and chocolates. The younger child got a few chocolates as well. ||As a side note, My husband enjoyed the free beer, sake and coffee 24/7. ||We cannot wait to return and will absolutely never stay anywhere else in Kyoto. ||Thank you so much to all of the staff for their amazing customer service. You made our stay in Kyoto a...
Read moreMimaru was our home away from home when visiting Kyoto. We recently took a trip to Japan from CA and stayed in three hotels, MONday in Asakusa Tokyo, Mimaru and The Ascott in Marunouchi Tokyo. Our absolute favorite was Mimaru. When we left and stayed at The Ascott I considered canceling the booking at that location and calling any Mimaru in Tokyo to ask if we could stay there, that's how good they are. It is the BEST location to stay as a family, just stop looking and book here immediately.||The rooms were fantastic, gorgeous and well equipped for families. The couch was so comfy to rest on after a long day of exploring the city. The entire room was perfectly equipped for families. My son is a rambunctious 1.5 year old and was crawling all over the beds, the couch, everywhere and fell off of each of those surfaces and did not hurt himself because the room was perfectly designed. There were rounded corners on all of the furniture even and the beds and couch low to the ground. You couldn't hear other guests and no one complained about our loud toddler. At the MONday apartments we were woken up quite a bit by people padding around above us, not at Mimaru!||The best part, the people. They truly made us feel so welcome. They helped us book multiple reservations, and was the only hotel that did us that courtesy. They had a whole guide of places and things to visit, amazing service! They made traveling around Kyoto so easy. My husband prepped them in advance that we would be checking in on my birthday and they went out and bought a beautiful bouquet of flowers, the coolest card I've ever seen, and made art specially for me! I have never felt so special. Thank you so so much making our stay so amazing. We can't wait to come back and stay at this location, and other Mimaru's throughout Japan...
