I booked a Japanese tatami room with 4 single beds for our family vacation here in Kyoto. The room is very spacious. As you can see from the photos, it got a dinning area (with chairs) and a lounge area (on tatami). The best part we really enjoy is the in-suite laundry machine. We traveled in summer so we were sweating whenever we were out. Nice to wash clothes easily. Location is convenient. There is a supermarket and a subway station entrance, a bus stop within the area. both in 5-8 mins walkable distance. 15 mins walk to Nijo castle and Nishiki market. By 5 mins walk to a big street, there are lots of duty-free shops like liquor store, pharmacy and souvenir stores. There are lots of restaurants nearby too. We tried an izakaya, buying takeouts from a supermarket or an underground food court in a department store or just explore a local tonkatzu place, a coffee shop, a local bakery. All are enjoyable. The only thing to be aware of is this is a serviced apartment set-up. Remember to bring your shower caps or cotton swabs/pads. Although Hotel provides some basic amenities at the lobby, it’s not as convenient to grab when you need these in bathroom 🤭 As a family trip, it’s nice to stay at Mimaru as it has full kitchen and the room is bigger. Some properties even have in-room laundry machine like this one. We will come back!

By far this is the best hotel experience I've ever had. As a pokemon fan, this is like a dream come true. I was shock by the size of this Kabigon, I saw the pic but it's much bigger irl. The theme is fantastic and even just one night but I was so happy. We stayed in Kyoto for only one night in April 24, and left early on 25, but this was amazing. The staffs were friendly and helped us alot, even we left early, they were happily helpping us checkout and keeping our luggages until noon. The location is pretty good, close to the metro station. You can easily find buses too. This room is perfect for family travel, and for pokemon fans. The price is generally high but well deserved. This is the second time I'd been in Mimaru's hotel. And it's a international-friendly place where you can easily communicate in English which is not a popular thing in Japan.

Our stay at Mimaru exceeded our expectations. We booked the Japanese Apartment as that was the only room available when we booked and it was amazing. We had 2 double beds as well as futon mats and bedding if we wanted to sleep on the tatami floor. We also had a small kitchen and fridge. With a two year old, the space was so good for him to run around in after a long day in the pram. The room was also very clean and comfortable. In the lobby of the hotel, there were wooden toys and books for children which we really appreciated. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The area surrounding the hotel was quiet but lovely to walk in morning or evening with very good nearby restaurants and the Nishiki market only around 15mins walk away. We highly recommend staying at Mimaru, especially when you have children.

Stay here – you won’t regret it! This review is long overdue. We visited Japan two months ago and spent four days in Kyoto. This hotel was our base during our stay in the Kansai region, and I’m so glad we chose it. It wasn’t our first time in Kyoto, but it was by far the best hotel experience we’ve had in this city.

The location is fantastic: just a 10-minute walk to Nishiki Market, and less than a 5-minute walk to the nearest subway station, which will get you to Kyoto Station in under 5 minutes. The area is peaceful, which I really appreciated, yet it’s close enough to the main street. As others have pointed out, there is a Family Mart on the corner , and several restaurants in the area. A shout out to Sushizen! It’s a Michelin-starred, family-owned sushi restaurant tucked away on a quiet street nearby. The owners are incredibly kind, and the meal is unforgettable. Also, if you’re looking for a quick drink(s), head over to Ki West. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff is great, and the drinks are awesome!

Property is clean and well attended. the building looks new and if its not, then they do a fantastic job of making it seem that way, We stayed in a one bedroom family apartment that consisted of a large bedroom including bunk beds and a sliding door that separated the kitchen and living area from the main room, offering great privacy. Bathroom/Laundry room. The staff was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always courteous. They truly went above and beyond to help us, even coordinating the transfer of my luggage back to Tokyo, which was an immense help.

If language is a concern, don’t worry. Communication with the staff was smooth and easy, and everyone was more than willing to assist.

I've recommended this hotel to several friends traveling this year and would stay again in...

We chose to stay here as a family of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) because it is one of the most reasonably priced hotels for a group this size. We were so happy with this choice - I would come back. I was most impressed with the staff. They were all welcoming, pleasant, and helpful. In the morning, I checked out and the staff offered luggage storage (which we didn't need because we were leaving). He called a taxi for us and helped us sort out the luggage and people.

The room was bigger than it looked in the photos, and a nice layout. The toilet room is separate from the bathroom, with an additional toilet down the hall (useful for 6 people!). The shower & bathroom is attached to the room that contains the sinks and washer/dryer combo. The washing machine is fairly small; it effectively washed 4 sets of clothing but took 4 hours to finish the washing & drying.

I found the floors a bit dusty. I walked around in my socks for a while before my feet started to feel gritty. Fortunately the hotel provides complimentary slippers for adults and children.

The kitchens are a good size to cook simple meals and all include a microwave and fridge. You can borrow a toaster oven, rice cooker, etc.

The beds are quite firm. Each person gets 2 down pillows: soft or firm. Duvets are quite warm.

Location is excellent. It's very easy to access the subway from here. The area is filled with restaurants if you're willing to point at pictures to order (most servers have a smattering...

There are pros and cons to this hotel as it was one of the not so great ones we stayed at so far in our trip. The pros and cons: beautiful hotel inside and out, the room was clean, spacious, the little kitchen is nice to have with bowls, forks/spoons, etc, I noticed there weren't any pots or Pans though. The bathroom is pretty nice, new looking, clean, I liked the shower and bath tub less here though as it's deep with no pull up bar and basic. The washer dryer combo was a pain, the cycles go for hours and even with a small load it takes more time to dry, it's finkly to use as well. Having a large refrigerator and a large enough space was one of the nicer things in this one.

The sound proofing inside the hotel is horrible, you can hear a lot, lots of stomping from adults and kids, screaming and stomping from kids in the hallways in the mornings and evenings and loud talking as well at random times, we didn't enjoy that at all as every hotel we stayed at has had sound proofing so far and there weren't kids running around. If you have kids and aren't just a couple or don't mind the stomping and screaming from kids this is a good place for you. As for me, it drove me and my bf up the wall. That's the biggest downside to this place and knocked a star off for me, overall, I would only recommend this hotel if you have kids or love...
