Stay here – you won’t regret it! This review is long overdue. We visited Japan two months ago and spent four days in Kyoto. This hotel was our base during our stay in the Kansai region, and I’m so glad we chose it. It wasn’t our first time in Kyoto, but it was by far the best hotel experience we’ve had in this city.
The location is fantastic: just a 10-minute walk to Nishiki Market, and less than a 5-minute walk to the nearest subway station, which will get you to Kyoto Station in under 5 minutes. The area is peaceful, which I really appreciated, yet it’s close enough to the main street. As others have pointed out, there is a Family Mart on the corner , and several restaurants in the area. A shout out to Sushizen! It’s a Michelin-starred, family-owned sushi restaurant tucked away on a quiet street nearby. The owners are incredibly kind, and the meal is unforgettable. Also, if you’re looking for a quick drink(s), head over to Ki West. The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff is great, and the drinks are awesome!
Property is clean and well attended. the building looks new and if its not, then they do a fantastic job of making it seem that way, We stayed in a one bedroom family apartment that consisted of a large bedroom including bunk beds and a sliding door that separated the kitchen and living area from the main room, offering great privacy. Bathroom/Laundry room. The staff was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always courteous. They truly went above and beyond to help us, even coordinating the transfer of my luggage back to Tokyo, which was an immense help.
If language is a concern, don’t worry. Communication with the staff was smooth and easy, and everyone was more than willing to assist.
I've recommended this hotel to several friends traveling this year and would stay again in...
Read moreWe chose to stay here as a family of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) because it is one of the most reasonably priced hotels for a group this size. We were so happy with this choice - I would come back. I was most impressed with the staff. They were all welcoming, pleasant, and helpful. In the morning, I checked out and the staff offered luggage storage (which we didn't need because we were leaving). He called a taxi for us and helped us sort out the luggage and people.
The room was bigger than it looked in the photos, and a nice layout. The toilet room is separate from the bathroom, with an additional toilet down the hall (useful for 6 people!). The shower & bathroom is attached to the room that contains the sinks and washer/dryer combo. The washing machine is fairly small; it effectively washed 4 sets of clothing but took 4 hours to finish the washing & drying.
I found the floors a bit dusty. I walked around in my socks for a while before my feet started to feel gritty. Fortunately the hotel provides complimentary slippers for adults and children.
The kitchens are a good size to cook simple meals and all include a microwave and fridge. You can borrow a toaster oven, rice cooker, etc.
The beds are quite firm. Each person gets 2 down pillows: soft or firm. Duvets are quite warm.
Location is excellent. It's very easy to access the subway from here. The area is filled with restaurants if you're willing to point at pictures to order (most servers have a smattering...
Read moreThere are pros and cons to this hotel as it was one of the not so great ones we stayed at so far in our trip. The pros and cons: beautiful hotel inside and out, the room was clean, spacious, the little kitchen is nice to have with bowls, forks/spoons, etc, I noticed there weren't any pots or Pans though. The bathroom is pretty nice, new looking, clean, I liked the shower and bath tub less here though as it's deep with no pull up bar and basic. The washer dryer combo was a pain, the cycles go for hours and even with a small load it takes more time to dry, it's finkly to use as well. Having a large refrigerator and a large enough space was one of the nicer things in this one.
The sound proofing inside the hotel is horrible, you can hear a lot, lots of stomping from adults and kids, screaming and stomping from kids in the hallways in the mornings and evenings and loud talking as well at random times, we didn't enjoy that at all as every hotel we stayed at has had sound proofing so far and there weren't kids running around. If you have kids and aren't just a couple or don't mind the stomping and screaming from kids this is a good place for you. As for me, it drove me and my bf up the wall. That's the biggest downside to this place and knocked a star off for me, overall, I would only recommend this hotel if you have kids or love...
