This hostel is in a new refurbished building, which makes a good impression on arrival. The stairs up to the bedrooms are at the back of the entrance lobby / lounge.||||The staff though didn't really explain how it works - so here's what I would have liked them to tell me:||||There is box for keys just inside front door which is only used for checkout if staff aren't around.||For breakfast there is bread (and a toaster behind counter), butter (in the fridge), jam and (great) coffee from the machine (it’s possible that coffee is available all day long, but I never found out).||Staff are not around during breakfast (so there isn't a set breakfast time) - which is fine - I just wonder what will happen when some nasty guest starts stealing the food.||There is an access code for entering building at night - it is to the right of the door, and once you press any button, the keypad will illuminate.||You don't need to take off shoes in the hostel (which is ok at this time of year, but I’m not sure it will work when it's wet outside in the winter).||||Midday checkout is great - it allows you to go and do stuff early, come back and have a shower, and then leave.||||I’m not so sure the separate Men's and Women's toilets works - when I was there, some of the female guests used whatever toilet was closer to them, which meant that men got a raw deal. Maybe if you ask for a room on a floor with your gender bathroom it will make this less likely to be a problem.||||The shower strength is good (the shower rooms are separate to the toilets).||||I booked a budget bedroom (without a proper window) - it was a good size, and there was reasonable ventilation. The air conditioning was also fine. There weren’t a lot of power sockets, but an extension lead was provided. The fridge in the bedroom was very useful. The bed was nice and firm, and the bedding was very comfortable. A few nice toiletries were provided.||||I liked the location - easy to walk into the centre, and plenty of bus routes nearby to get to further away attractions. There is a supermarket across the road sells cheap Bean to Cup coffee!||||The wifi was good.||||I would happily return - especially if i could get a room on a floor with a...
Read moreThe common area had a really cool vibe and had books with recommendations for food and places to go. Our room itself smelled really bad as soon as we entered, and the aircon definitely gave me a cold. The aircon looked really dirty inside and definitely needs to be replaced or deep cleaned. The girls' showers were massive, and they could go on any floor, whereas the boys had to have a unisex shower with the only boys shower being on the top floor.
Overall, it was a nice stay, just a shame the room smelled so bad. Mainly the smell was coming...
Read moreReally nice hostel with modern facilities. Breakfast offered is toast and tea/coffee which is a nice touch and saves you having to worry about where to eat. There is a fridge, sink and tv in the room with shower rooms on each floor. The only inconvenience is that there is only male OR female toilets on each floor which isn’t the best if you need to go to the loo in the night. Great location close to subway and bus connections - consider getting a 1 or 2 day...
