A beautiful hotel that combines traditional Japanese aesthetic with modern living. The hotel is modern, spacious and luxurious, with lovely service from the staff. Lots of amenities available and very spacious rooms. We stayed in the largest room, which featured both a tatami seating area as well as a TV and sofa section, which was great and comfortable. Double sinks were very useful. We loved the modern Japanese aesthetic. It is close to many bus stops and easy to get to major temples/shrines from them. It is, however, quite a residential area so you have to walk further down the road for a konbini, restaurants or shops, and it is slightly far from the station, 15min walk, which is normally fine but was tough in the boiling Kyoto summer with luggage! There is a mini-fridge, kettle and coffee machine in the room. There was also a microwave, vending machine and coin laundry on the first floor. The only criticism I would have is I would like a stronger aircon unit, as the room wasn’t that cool despite turning the aircon to max. This may be because the room is very spacious and there is only one built in aircon unit. Extremely worth it for the price, would definitely stay here again. The bad thing is, the room is so nice we didn’t want to leave it to...
Read moreCaution the hotel charges everything it’s a ripoff! The place seems affordable but when you get there the staff would as when we booked a room for 4 adults. When we booked the room we also said we had 1 kid.
The hotel replied 1 add futon would cost 1000 yen but when we got there the staff told us if we were to bring a kid it would cost 10,000 yen.
After 4 days we were checking out and our family was packing and we ended up 15 mins late.
In the lobby the person told us that if we were late for checkout there’s a fee of 2000 yen!
Finally we saw someone else that said their room had 10 coffee sachets for 5 days, 2 sachets each day and they missed 2 sachets and the person requested for capsules and the staff said they were 150 yen each even though the hotel was supposed to give it complimentary.
Look out for all the paperwork and read it carefully and ask them questions before...
Read moreOur stay was severely disrupted by the smell and lack of light in our room which was located on the first floor. We asked to switch rooms. They agreed but as a result, we had to face constant room re-assignments since it was a busy season. The hotel placed us in a smaller room than booked, but we were happy it was on the 3rd floor bc at least it wasn’t smelly. We’ve moved around 3 rooms in total and this required us to completely reorganize our schedule, wake up early, and hurriedly pack and move our belongings to vacate the rooms for another guest.
The entire situation was a significant source of stress and wasted precious time and energy on our trip. Based on this experience, I strongly advise future guests to confirm your room is on the 2nd or 3rd floor and avoid the 1st floor entirely to prevent similar issues (if you decide to stay at...
