It is operated by the Hosomi Art Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation. The Hosomi Art Foundation was established in 1994 with the approval of the Ministry of Education (at the time) based on the collection of three generations of the Hosomi family, beginning with the late Hosomi Ryo (the first Kokoan), an Osaka businessman, and the Hosomi Museum of Art opened in March 1998. In April 2012, the Cabinet Office approved the transition to a public interest incorporated foundation, and the museum is now known as the Hosomi Art Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation. The Hosomi Museum of Art's collection of Japanese art, which totals approximately 1,000 pieces, covers almost all fields and periods of Japanese art and crafts, with many excellent pieces including Buddhist and Shinto art from the Heian and Kamakura periods, Muromachi ink paintings, Negoro and tea kettles, Momoyama tea ceramics and cloisonné art, and Edo period paintings by Rinpa and Jakuchu. The collection is known both domestically and internationally as one of the finest in each field, and includes many pieces designated as Important Cultural Properties and Certified Important Fine Arts. The Hosomi Museum of Art's modern building, which incorporates the motif of a Kyoto townhouse, was designed by Oe Tadashi. The courtyard, which has an atrium that stretches from the second basement floor to the third floor, as well as a cafe and restaurant, a rooftop garden, and a tea room create a relaxing space. The museum holds several special exhibitions throughout the year, and also promotes traditional culture through seminars and lectures. There is no permanent exhibition, but instead special exhibitions are held on various themes. (Source: Art Agenda, an art museum and exhibition...

In fact you can see the exhibts best in the shop on postcards. They had a tea shop, but you could not go in and the staff did not know when it would be open. There is a print block museum, very close by, I would recommend there. Beautiful pictures, very kind staff. There is no entrance fee, but I guess they would like you to buy a picture, which is not a problem as they...
