A Tranquil Oasis Near Kyoto Station: A Hidden Gem by Kamo River
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel in Kyoto, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations in every way. From the moment we booked our family room and theater room, the hotel's constant communication and attention to detail ensured that our check-in process near Kyoto Station went smoothly.
One of the standout features of our stay was the hotel's complimentary van service. They sent a comfortable van to pick us up, and the driver was not only friendly but also incredibly helpful with our luggage and ensuring our journey was pleasant. This thoughtful service set the tone for the rest of our stay.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were delighted to find that the rooms were almost equally spacious, allowing us to easily open our luggage and move around without feeling cramped. The theater room, which was the largest of all, was a true gem. The sofa could be converted into a sofa bed, making our movie nights with the projector exceptionally comfortable.
One of the standout features of our rooms was the pantry, complete with all the necessary cutlery and utensils. This convenience was a lifesaver when we decided to have snacks or a hot meal in the room. The rooms were also equipped with a microwave and a sink, which made it even more convenient for us.
The bathroom was equally impressive. It featured an automatic toilet and a bathtub, which provided a perfect way to rejuvenate after a long day of exploring Kyoto. The cleanliness and attention to detail in the rooms and bathrooms were commendable.
Moreover, the hotel's location near Kamo River added to the charm of our stay. The serene and pristine waters of the river, combined with the soothing sound of flowing water, provided a perfect backdrop to unwind and connect with nature.
In addition, there were two convenience stores nearby, making it easy for us to grab essentials, and the proximity to Sanjo Station made commuting around the city a breeze.
While the overall experience was exceptional, if I had to nitpick, the only minor inconvenience was the front door steps, which required us to navigate a few steps down. This made moving luggage and a stroller a bit challenging but certainly didn't overshadow the positive aspects of our stay.
In conclusion, I would wholeheartedly give this hotel a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. From the seamless check-in process and comfortable transportation to the spacious and well-equipped rooms, as well as the friendly and accommodating staff, this hotel truly stands out as a hidden gem in Kyoto. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding stay in this...
Read moreThis was our third stay at the same location, for good reason, it's a superb and affordable hotel with a home-like feel to the room. We were in room 308, our other friends were upstairs in 408; we could not hear them at all. The room is beautiful, it's been renovated since our last visit and the finishes are gorgeous. The kitchenette is good although the hotplate/kitchen counter is smaller than it was in the other suite we'd previously stayed in. There is a balcony which overlooks the neighbour's roof, but at least you can see the sky. The neighbourhood is quiet, so we slept with the door cracked a bit for some fresh air. The beds are firm and new, the carpet is well kept and not worn at all. There is plenty of closet space in the front hall vestibule as well as in the wardrobe in the suite. There is a coin laundry facility on the ground floor which has detergent automatically added, it's coin operated and one can get coins easily from the change machine or from the vending machine in the lobby. The head office is NOT on the premises, it is across the street from JR's Kyoto Station, so you will need to go there prior to going ot the lcoation. The staff speaks fluent English and are exceedingly helpful. You can take two subways from Kyoto Station to the Sanjo station on the Keihan line, and from there it's a 4 minute walk to the hotel. The lcoation is key.. it's on one side of the Sanjo bridge, all the shopping is on the other side, including the best Starbucks on the planet for location, vibe, quietness and scenery. The Nishiki market is walking distance, for everything else use the subway or bus. We will be staying here again when we...
Read moreRESI Stay was a comfortable, western style room. Instructions for check-in and locale was easy to read and extremely helpful. The location was PERFECT walking distance from the Sanjo subway station and main hub of the Nishiki Market and Teramachi-dori. Although we were close to the busy hub, it was extremely quiet at night with dual layered windows to keep the noise low. Another awesome feature was the clothes drying option for the bathroom vent. Along with the washing machine downstairs that automatically supplies the detergent. There was also keyless entry on the front door of the building and the rooms themselves.
Despite how nice the stay was we give four stars: *The check-in process for someone who is driving is extremely inconvenient as we have to check-in at the reception desk across town from where we stayed. *Although there are multiple parking spaces around the location we stayed, the roads are mostly one way and are all scattered in very inconvenient sections of the grid. *For us, the mattress was EXTREMELY hard. This might be a normal in Japan, but we woke multiple times throughout the evening a little stiffer than what we would like. *The door into the bedroom makes going to the bathroom a hassel. The door is an open out door and it opens INTO the doorway of the bathroom. So we had to open the door to close the door to get into the bathroom.
Overall it was what we were looking for during our long roadtrip. I would recommend this to others, but I would also give them a heads up about the few things we had difficulties with. Thank you again...
