駒札: 寂光寺 妙泉山(みょうせんざん)と号する顕本(けんぽん)法華宗の寺院である。 寺伝によれば、天正六年(1578)にに日淵(にちえん)上人により創建され、はじめ久遠院(くおんいん)と号し、室町出水(上京区)にあったが、後に寺町二条(中京区)、更に宝永五年(1705)にこの地に移った。 当寺二世の日海(にっかい)は、寺内塔頭の本因坊に住み、本因坊算砂(さんざ)と号した。算砂は碁技を仙也(せんや)に学び、当寺敵手なく、織田信長から「名人」の名を贈られた。次いで、豊臣秀吉、徳川家康に碁を教えた。以降本因坊の名勝は、碁界家元の地位を持ち、技量卓抜なものが襲名継承することとなった。二世算悦(さんえつ)、三世道悦(どうえつ)を経て四世道策(どうさく)の時、本因坊は当寺から江戸に移った。 寺内には、本因坊の算砂、算悦、道悦の墓があり、寺宝として、算砂の画像や近衛関白家より拝領の唐桑(からくわ)の碁盤等を蔵している。 京都市 (現地駒札より) plaque: Jakko-ji Temple This is a Kenpon Hokke sect temple called Myosen-zan. According to temple legend, it was founded by the monk Nichien in 1578 and was originally called Kuon-in and located in Muromachi Izumi (Kamigyo Ward), but later moved to Teramachi Nijo (Nakagyo Ward) and then to this location in 1705. The second head priest of the temple, Nikkai, lived in the Honinbo subtemple within the temple and called himself Honinbo Sanza. Sanza learned go from Senya, and was unrivaled by the temple's opponents, receiving the title of "master" from Oda Nobunaga. He then taught go to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu. From then on, the famous place of Honinbo held the status of a head of the go world, and the name was passed down to those with outstanding skills. After passing through the second head priest San'etsu and the third head priest Do'etsu, the fourth head priest Dosaku, Honinbo moved from this temple to Edo. The graves of Honinbo Sansha, San'etsu, and Do'etsu are located within the temple, and temple treasures include a portrait of Sansha and a Karakuwa go board bestowed by the Konoe regent. そんな中、都心のど真ん中に寂光寺。「顕本法華宗寂光寺」の看板と共に「碁道本因坊元祖之道場」「第一世本因坊算砂跡」そして「自分に勝つ者を真の強者という」貼り紙の掲示板が見える。 中に入れば「第一世本因坊報恩塔」とこちらは囲碁のてんこ盛りだ✨

天正6年(1578)創建、開山は日淵、本尊に三宝尊を祀る顕本法華宗の寺院。で、教育熱心の日淵は弟子の日海を輩出し、法華宗の発展に大きく寄与。で、弟子の日海は塔中の本因坊に住み、やがては秀吉や家康に碁を教え、信長からは名人と呼ばれ、後に"本因坊算砂と名付けられる。
