Worst and the only bad experience I have had in Japan over a period of a month. Check-in staff that attened to me is extremely unfriendly. Room felt dirty and was extremely small. Bed was way too small for two adults despite the room being advertised as a double room. Walls had stains. This gave me an extremely bad impression and I wanted to get out of the room and did not feel like returning to the room the first night. The elevators of the hotel also had problems. Even when the elevator reached the floor I was at, the door would never open. Also, even when I manaage to get into the elevator, whenever I go up to my room or down to the exit, the elevator stops at the lobby which is the 4th floor even without pressing the buttom. A total waste of time. Wi-fi at the hotel is absolutely horrible. For some reason, not every room has access points and I had to constantly switch between the access points of rooms that were 2 rooms away from me. The connection was so bad that I just resorted to using up my mobile data instead. There were also only 3 laundry machines and dryers in the hotel despite there being many rooms. People also did not clear out their laundry from the machines after being done with them and I had to wait for them for an extended amount of time. The dryer is also not strong enough. While dryers in other hotels could fully dry my laundry within 30 minutes, my laundry was still damp after 1 hour of drying. Honestly, the worst part of the stay was when I checked out and was attended to by the same staff that checked me in. I wanted to send my luggage to the next hotel by takkyubin and she just handed me the blank form without saying anything or asking if I knew how to fill it out. I was shocked because for all my experiences at other hotels in Japan, the staff helped me to fill up the form without asking and I just had to show them the address of the next hotel that I had prepared on my phone. They had even called the next hotel to inform them of the incoming luggage. The staff at Tokyu REI Nagano just handed me the form and stared when we looked confused. She looked like she did not want to help us at all. I had to pull out a previous takkyubin receipt to try to copy how to fill up the form. When I was struggling with the Kanji for the address and asked my partner to help me, only then did she rudely say '来' in Chinese which means 'come'. I do not even know why she spoke Chinese to us when we had been speaking in English the entire time. She then reluctantly filled the form for us. This absolutely ruined my morning and soured my mood. Abyssmal experience. Probably the only good point of the hotel is that it is in an extremely...
Read moreDuring my trip to Japan, I stayed at a hotel for three nights, and it was an excellent experience overall. The hotel's location was fantastic, as it was conveniently situated near both the train station and a bus stop. This made getting around the city incredibly easy, and it also allowed for quick access to popular attractions like the Zenkoji Temple, which was only a 15-30 minute walk away or a short 5-minute bus ride. Additionally, the hotel was surrounded by many restaurants and department stores, offering plenty of dining and shopping options within walking distance.
One thing I particularly appreciated was the presence of a Family Mart convenience store right in front of the hotel, which was perfect for grabbing snacks or any essentials I needed during my stay. Upon entering the hotel, I was impressed by the helpfulness of the staff, who were always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. The lobby, located on the 4th floor, had a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff's warmth made me feel right at home.
As for the accommodations, while the room was a bit on the smaller side, I found it to be quite comfortable. The highlight was definitely the large bed, which provided a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring. Despite the compact size, the room was well-appointed and had everything I needed for a pleasant stay.
Although I didn't have the chance to try the hotel's breakfast, I noticed a map of the breakfast station in the room, which indicated that there were breakfast options available for guests. While I cannot comment on the quality of the breakfast, the availability of this option was...
Read moreThe hotel was clean, comfortable, welcoming and quiet. Even though we were next to the train station, we didn’t hear anything. ||There are a lot of dining options nearby but you shouldn’t miss the hotel breakfast buffet, which has both Japanese and western options. It was a nice chance for my kids to try some unfamiliar Japanese food. Coffee was great too, and they had to-go cups as well. ||The staff was helpful and spoke English well enough to meet my needs. They helped me ship our luggage to our next hotel (takkyubin). And we were able to store some of our other luggage after checkout for a couple hours. ||There is a coin laundry and the machines dispense detergent so you don’t need to have some. ||Convenience store (I think 7-Eleven) and Don Quixote 1 block away. There’s a microwave on the lobby floor (4th) and table and chairs in the rooms. ||Rooms were large for Japan (I guess it’s not Tokyo). Only down side was no drawers to store clothes but there was a closet to hang them, and a luggage rack so you’ll be literally living out of your suitcase. ||Overall it was clean and relatively spacious for a Japanese hotel. I would recommend it for families and couples as a good value hotel. I would definitely stay here again and will look for Tokyu brand hotels in other...
