Stayed at this hotel for 1 night prior to our flight out of Okinawa. We used the last day of our 3 day trip to see the town of Naha, and then only needed this hotel to stay the 1 night.
First thing - the hotel towers above the nearby areas, it's very hard to miss. Even more surprising is the fact the hotel is located at the bottom of a pretty sleep hill so that tells you how high the hotel really is. There is a bar at the top floor that has some great views of the area.
Parking at the hotel is right near the entrance - so you don't have to walk far to get in. The lobby is fairly spacious, check-in was standard Japanese semi-efficient (could always be quicker, but it's fine). We got a deluxe room on a fairly high floor which was good - and also free breakfast in the morning. Not sure what was deluxe about the room, but the view was nice. Also - signature doubletree cookies!
We also got 2 free welcome drinks so we went to the bar at the top floor to redeem them. Limited to beers, wine, and maybe 1/2 cocktails, we chose the wine that tasted flat and oxidized (well, the bar was pretty dead ws well). However, the view was definitely top notch.
The room itself was also pretty plain - nothing of note to speak about except the beds were comfortable, the A/C was working, and nothing was broken as of note. The morning breakfast though was the best I've had during the trip. Everything was fresh and flavorful - and they had some extra items hilton gold members can select (such as broiled agu pork) that were also delicious. Would recommend even paying for...
Read moreThis was a convenient, welcoming hotel. We arrived here after a long flight from NYC, and were happy to have easy, ample parking, quiet clean rooms, and smooth check-in. We actually stayed here twice, one night each time, separated by a stay of 4 nights up island, and we were happy to come back to this hotel before our flight to Korea. We paid for the buffet breakfast and found it excellent - good coffee, interesting tasty foods, and an impressive variety. It was easy to catch a cab in front of the hotel and pay a reasonable amount for a ride to Kokusai-Dori street at night (we had a rental car, but didn't want to mess with parking in the busiest part of town, and wanted to relax with a beer or two), paying only $7 or $8, each way, for 3 passengers. (We really didn't see any restaurants or nightlife close to the hotel. No matter! Cabs were great.) We regretted that the rooftop restaurant was closed on Mondays so we were unable to enjoy the view from there. However, we had great views from our rooms, and enjoyed both of our quick stays. One con though: Our first assigned rooms were on the 19th floor, and were TINY and cramped! The next stay, we were on the 11th floor, and our rooms were MUCH larger and more comfortable. This is a nice laid back hotel, and the availability of reasonably priced taxis made it convenient as well. Note: Take a business card for the hotel with you when you hop in the cab. Some cab drivers have a little problem with English, and need to know WHICH Doubletree hotel you...
Read moreLocation of the hotel is very good, near Naha. The turn into the parking lot is very sharp and sudden, but plenty of free parking. Diamond status was recognized ahead of time and I was upgraded, which not expected given the class of hotel, but it was appreciated. The upgrade was minor to a slightly more spacious room and a higher floor. No separate check in line for elite members, however the staff was very quick to check people in. There was also a happy hour with free drinks available for diamond members, although I did not partake.||The room itself is larger than most Japanese style business hotel rooms I am used to staying in for business. I was given a room with two twin size beds, but the beds were very comfortable and sleep was excellent. There wasn't any significant noise from the outside so it is great for light sleepers. The room had plenty of outlets and was laid out very nicely, more modern than any Doubletree in the United States, for a point of comparison.||The breakfast spread was excellent, with a special ala carte menu available for diamond elite members. Diamond members were also seated in a separate section. The food was great with a good selection of Western food and many Japanese options. All the food was excellent quality, from the soba to the taco rice. A few changes from day to day, but enough selection that breakfast did not feel tired at all even after a week.||Great hotel to stay in the area, I was very impressed, especially with...
