Right, this hotel was nice to stay in and the breakfast was okay I suppose. But they stuck us in a smoking room when we arrived despite neither of us being smokers.
I almost vomited at the smell when we stepped off the elevator on the 9th floor (smoking floor) why do hotels still allow people to smoke in them makes no sense to me it is disgusting.
We stepped in the room and the smell of smoke was atrocious, I don’t have issues with my asthma but breathing this air started to make me wheeze.
My wife called the front desk and they chose to charge us ¥2000 to move rooms. I was really annoyed at why have they done this when they should be apologizing. I wish my wife had let me deal with it.
We got another room which was far smaller than the first room with a twin bed instead of a double bed.

Read moreVery well located hotel in Central Sapporo, accessible walking distance to Susukino entertainment district, Japan’s largest outside of Tokyo. Easy access to downtown Sapporo’s famous mall, Tanuki Koji, which has amazing shopping opportunities from vintage to thrift to jewelry to great, affordable restaurants, and everything in between.
Great, complete Japanese+Western breakfast buffet replete with nutritious and healthy options. Outstanding staff willing to go the extra mile to make my stay a pleasure and highly convenient. The staff member Haruna in particular was exceptional—she painstakingly helped me arrange for the shipment of my snowboard to our next destination in Osaka. The quality of the Japanese service here was mindblowing. I would stay again and will stay again when I return to ski in...
Read moreI rebook Daiwa after my short trip to Otaru mainly because my previous stay is fantastic. Room fixtures are still very new and clean. The bath and shower are separated and is huge compared to most Japanese hotel. It is close to metro station. I have to say that staff are awesome and with very positive attitude and willingness to solve any issues. What I also like most is that they have a status update on the public bath and restaurant so that I don’t go in those times when the place is super crowded. Will definitely stay here again. Genuinely Thank you all staff in DRH who make my stay...
