Nukumi — Restaurant in Sapporo

An authentic omakase experience, for better or worse. Especially towards foreigners. The food had excellent presentation, and the food demonstrated a bit regarding the local specialities. However, for the amount that you pay, they really cheap out in the selection of some of the dishes. They literally gave us 2 slices of persimmon for dessert, for example. Whole Persimmons are extremely accessible and offered at every hotel. The other complaint I had was that I paid for an interactive omakase experience, but because we were foreigners they set my wife and I off on a private table out of sight, out of mind. And we could hear Japanese people who were invited to sit with the chef at the bar having a pleasant time. All in all, a very overhyped experience, and not pleasant in...

Of course, the food quality here is excellent, beautifully presented, with seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients and service that is unintrusive but attentive. But where Nukumi really stands out is in attention to the small details — the 一口生ビール tiny draft beer, the Saba with the barely-noticeably Shiso mixed into the wasabi, the miso soup with an esoteric Hokkaido seaweed we had never tasted before. Nukumi is not perfect — the atmosphere felt a bit clinical and we would have enjoyed a more convivial atmosphere outside of the private room. Excellent Japanese cuisine. Ingredients were high end with abalone, uni, oysters. Very good presentation and quality was excellent. There was so much food and literally so stuffed by the end of the meal. They also gave us a takeaway box of rice with mushroons ans oyster at the end

Location is a modernized house with Japanese styling. Very clean and neat. Right next to Nakajima park.

Only downsides are that hardly any English is spoken and a lack of warm tea...
