It's the first time I went to Shirahama. It's well-known as a great hot spring town and beautiful beach. But this time our main purpose was going to Adventure World with my daughter and had to stay in Shirahama for 1night. I knew Marriot has a hotel in Shirahama. After checking the location, I found it's very near to Adventure World and the price is very reasonable for me, so I decided to stay here for 1night. We arrived here around 4pm, the hotel is located on a hill so we can have great view from higher side to watch the whole Shirahama beach. Our room is in higher level and already set our baby bed well as I requested. The room is very comfortable and wild. The bed was comfortable and also the pillows were comfortable. There are sofa and table in the room. We were impressed by the hot spring facility in the top floor. First sight, I saw the blue ocean from the big window and it was really amazing and so beautiful. Then I went into the public hot spring area, it was clean and everything were well set. I did enjoyed both indoor and outdoor hot spring pools. The indoor hot spring pool were covered by big clear glass window, so I can see almost 270degree view of Shirahama town. The outdoor pool is facing Shirahama beach, so I can see the beautiful ocean and white beach from the top. I think the hotel location is very good! It takes only 5minutes by walk from hotel to the beach, but the hotel has better view than others. Also the hotel has bicycle for rental, but regretly the weather was not good so we didn't use the bicycle.
We found a small garden and swimming pool in the back of the hotel. Also there is a small lovely church for wedding event.
I did had a great time stayed in this hotel, and we loved this hotel very much. My daughter also told me she wants to visit here again...
Read moreLarge room overlooking the garden. Japanese bathroom with a tub. Well equipped apart from a lack of USBs. Good quality tea and coffee. The top floor open air baths are excellent, we used them every day. The private bathroom meant we could share a bath. Also good for people who find the naked bathing disconcerting. Sunset is a good time to go as you can sit in the bath and watch the sun set over the Pacific. I'm not sure I would have liked a room with a private bath as they involve a lot of steam. There was a good selection on the breakfast buffet on our last day; and very good quality and variety. No more expensive than normal for this type of hotel. We went to local cafes on our other days but coffee and toast is quite hard to find in town. The hotel is only a few minutes from the sandy beach which is sheltered behind a reef and a breakwater so marvellous for swimming and still warm in October. The water gets deep quite quickly. There are showers for washing your feet and a very pleasant footbath as you leave the beach. There is quite a steep climb up to the hotel. If you have heavy bags you probably should take a taxi. If you use the bus from the station it's the Shirahama Beach stop. 400¥ There is a frequent bus service round the area. You can pay cash, buy a local travel ticket at the bus office at the station or use an IC card, which you can top up at the station. The area walkable and bikeable, electric is good with the hills. The roads are not busy. There is an electric bike hire rack at the hotel. You can just leave the bike with a wheel lock in Japan, it seems. No need for the hardened steel u-lock and chain I have to...
Read moreI stayed in a sea view “bath” (onsen) room this was truly a great, the hotel is newly renovated and service is impeccable. In May it was pretty much empty and i was told the weather is usually fine even though it was raining during my one night stay. However, that did not hamper our stay at all. The onsen available in this hotel is superb. The service staff from the front desk to the restaurant to the lounge was amazing. The room is large with a separate “bath” onsen room facing the ocean. It was so nice to have your own onsen in the privacy of your room. I also loved the public baths, both indoor and outdoors on the 11F. Did I mention that the hot spring seems to be really good for ones skin? My skin was all smooth and I even don’t have fingerprints anymore lol. They also have a view lounge with amazing panoramic views. I went to dinner late around 8:30pm since I was enjoying the club lounge happy hour a little too much (beers, cocktails, plum wine available) and some of the dishes were sold out but I was able to order my Japanese beef teppanyaki. It ain’t no Kobe beef but it was still super juicy and tender. As a platinum member that was 20% off. Each order came with 8 small (two-bite) beef pieces which you grill yourself. Breakfast was nice and varied with Japanese Chinese and western selection. The omelette was Japanese style and really good actually. Overall this was so relaxing I wish I could stay longer. It was so nice to not have a ton of people in the hotel in this season. Highly...
