磯野水産 白浜本店 — Restaurant in Shirahama

We have been to many Japanese eateries and usually love the food, service and value of the experience. This eatery, unfortunately, is not on the list. Visited on 8 Dec 2024 for a family dinner. It’s a Sunday night and we were attracted by the outdoor bright and colorful deco. This place is popular for BBQ food and we love the old school table charcoal grill they have. We ordered oysters, prawn, onion, garlic squid. It takes a while for the food to be properly grilled( more than 30min). The garlic was wrapped in a foil and it leaked into the charcoal which created smoke into the air. The chef has to change a new one for us. There’s no proper ventilation. The two diners next to us ordered yakitori set and created more smokes into the air. The smoke trapped inside and all our hair, clothes were stained. We ordered fried prawn, maguro sashimi and sake which was not over pour, and it costs ¥800 per glass. Overall we spent more than ¥9200 for 3 persons. Horrible Dining Experience – Food and Environment are a Disaster!

The place was filthy, with oil stains everywhere, no air conditioning, and no ventilation. It felt like sitting in a smoke-filled room, and my eyes were burning from the fumes. The food was completely tasteless, adding insult to injury in such a terrible environment.

Worse yet, after eating there, I had severe food poisoning and terrible diarrhea. The staff was also disorganized and careless, constantly forgetting things and adding to the overall chaos. This place is clearly unsafe, both in terms of cleanliness and food quality. I strongly urge everyone to avoid it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Seafood and BBQ Experience!

This restaurant is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with beautiful red lanterns that create an authentic Japanese vibe. The variety of grilled skewers made for an unforgettable BBQ experience. The place is extremely smokey too.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. The seafood, especially the clams, was delicious and grilled to perfection. Whether you’re here for fresh sashimi or a fun yakiniku-style grill, this place has it all!
