We stayed for one night in mid April this year. The setting is very peaceful and beautiful -- I found the pictures online to be very accurate. While the whole experience was wonderful, I would call two things out in particular. The private onsen was extremely relaxing with an excellent temperature and a view that made you feel alone in the woods. We had both dinner and breakfast in the room and both were amazing (the dinner in particular was pretty incredible). I definitely think you are doing it wrong if you don't get the dinner. With a message to the hotel a week or two in advance (a bit difficult, but google translate along with searching the Japanese-language version of the site for a contact form worked out just fine) they were able to accommodate my wife who eats fish but not meat.||||The only other thing I'd touch on was the transport since we were a bit worried about that. Having relied primarily on the trains in the rest of the country, this was the one place we went that required taking the bus. We took a reserved bus purchased a day or two in advance from Kanazawa to Takayama and then a non-reserved bus from Takayama to Hirayu. I'm not sure if it's always that way, but there were no issues at all with the second bus -- probably only 1/3 full at most.||||Anyway I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to experience true relaxation and a different side of Japan from...

Read moreI stayed at Mozumo for only one night in early April. The inn was quiet, peaceful and relaxing.||It’s a bit tricky to get to Mozumo by public transport, so I drove there. Luckily, the weather was really good, the road condition was excellent and the drive was interesting. ||When I was there, there was still a lot of snow that had not melted. It was quite nice to watch the snow covered forest with patches of moss from the bathtub. As the forest surrounding the place is not very dense, I could still see the traffic from the road nearby as well as other buildings.||The hot spring water was really hot. I had to either mix cold water in or leave all the glass screens surrounding the tub open for awhile to cool the water down. However, the bath was still very nice.||What I really like about this place are the simplicity of the interior design and the fact that you don’t really see other guests. With the in-room open air hot spring on the veranda, you don’t really need to go to the public bath. Dinner and breakfast are served in your room too. This is just ideal for relaxation. ||The food at Mozumo was not the best one that I had in Japanese inn, but they are good. Hida beef was nice. I really like their hojicha ice cream desert. ||In summary, I like this place and will come back to stay for longer if I...
