I am familiar with the FlexStay and MyStay hotel chains system in which that they have no daily room service and it's up to you to keep your room clean during your stay.||||I have a fairly average expectation from this hotel, considering its category.||||Since we travelled during the cherry blossom season, most of the cheap hotels near the center of Tokyo are already filled up.||||I can point out a number of good merits for this hotel:||- It has a couple of restaurants (like a ramen place) nearby which close late and a 7-11 conbini across the street (A Mini-Stop is also nearby)||- It is close to the South Exit of the Higashi-Jujo Station, a stop for the Keihin-Tohoku Line This would be your access to the major Tokyo destinations (Northbound to Akabane for more food options or Southbound for Nippori onwards). Allot about 20 mins to reach the major train stations. As a side note, the bridge going to the station is a good vantage point to watch passing trains - you may even see an old fashioned train like I did!||- They were nice enough to accommodate package deliveries as well, and even let you know that your parcels have arrived.||- Cherry Blossom season specific: Asukayama Park is a fairly quiet cherry blossom viewing place, extremely accessible as well as it sits right next to Oji Station, just one stop away from Higashi-Jujo. ||||What placed a smile on my face however was the accommodating service of one staff member, who I was able to ask questions via email about some concerns even before our stay. This small gesture of human interaction raised the quality of stay for us a bit, even before we've arrived.||||Aside from the usual expectations of a basic budget hotel, the one negative thing I can point out is that we struggled to communicate with the night shift staff in English, but we somehow managed, and it's not that...

Read moreWell-located a few meters from the south exit of the JR station, so very convenient access to Tokyo centre, especially with JR rail passes as you then save money on the subway. |Price-wise it's also good - the Saturday night pushed the overall price up a lot, which I only realised when I was given the receipt - the other nights were very cheap!||The only complaints were about the room itself. We had an economy room, so I can't complain too much, but the rooms are tiny even by Japanese standards. For 2 people, there really is no room to move once you've laid your suitcases down and taken your shoes off. Also the room was quite warm, we couldn't find the remote for the air con, but we couldn't open the window either as the sound of the trains from the station was really loud. Also don't be fooled by 'kitchenette' - it's a sink, cupboard and a stove, but there's nothing to use on said stove apart from the kettle, so you may as well just have an electric kettle and no stove. Our final complaint again couldn't be helped by the whole corridor stank of smoke, luckily the room itself wasn't too bad. I did have to book a smoking room when I booked as the system didn't show any non-smoking rooms - I don't know if this hotel has any at all, so something to bear in mind if you really don't like the smell of smoke. |Overall, I would probably stay again if the price was right due to the good location etc, but would try and book a standard room rather than an economy one - we saw one being cleaned and it looked a...
