This hostel was the first on our month long journey to Japan, but is definitely setting a high bench mark for all the hostels we are staying in to follow. The location is absolutely phenomenal. It’s just tucked away enough to have privacy and quietness, yet still so so close to a Tokyo Metro station (Oshiage) to get to all of the places you would like to see. My sister and I had a private twin room with a bunk bed. The beds were comfortable, the pillows were great and the doona was very warm and homey. The room itself wasn’t very spacious, but for the price you pay- you get a great deal. It was perfect for the amount of nights that we stayed there. ||||The staff were very lovely, and although the gentleman didn’t speak amazing English, the other ladies spoke excellent English (although the gentleman was definitely very nice and tried his best to help us in the check in process and to pick up my parcel that I got pre-delivered here). The key to the room was a swipe IC card and was easy to spot in daily backpack with it being a bright pink colour. The bathrooms were always very clean and the toilets were very good and close by to our room. The room itself had a mini fridge and a hair dryer, as well as a desk and chair and television for our convenience. It was very well designed with a spacious area to store our luggage. ||||The common room was homey and although we didn’t use the kitchen, we used the laundry services which were cheap and the dryer was so quick. The hostel gives you washing machine detergent for 50 yen so that too was very affordable. The common room also has vending machines for alcohol and also water, apple juice and other tea which is very convenient. The reception also has a free umbrella rental which came in handy when it was raining during our stay. The hostel is close to both 7-11 and Family Mart, and was very easy to navigate to. All in all, this hostel was very good and a great beginning to our trip. We look forward to staying in Oak Hostel Zen at the end of our trip! ||||Thank you very very much. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will be back one day when visiting...
Read moreWe arrived very tired late one evening, the reception is open until 1am so that is amazing. they speak quite good English and check in was no problem. ||The room was very small but as expected. we didn't plan to stay long in the room anyway. Small TV and desk, with frosted windows and slippers to use. A VERY comfortable bed. Some hangers to store clothes etc, but no storage space really in our room.||We wondered down to the kitsch/lounge area which is a very nice comfortable place to relax and cook/eat/drink. everyone is so polite. good range of cooking equipment and utensils, good storage area in fridges for food and a labelling system. Good sized TV to watch and comfortable seats/table to sit at. 2 vending machines with various drinks/alcohol drinks. ||||The Oshiage area is really nice, a little gem just outside of the centre, the station is so close (within walking distance) and you can get anywhere from there easily. We found the trains to be amazing. There are several local shops including a 7eleven, within walking distance and a pharmacy too. (basically anything you need is close!)||||The hostel offers many leaflets on locations of interest and staff 'favourites' These are so useful for first timers like myself and my husband.||||Overall the hostel was super clean and quiet and tidy. there were many guests but you wouldn't know it. everyone is so polite and respectful. toilets are very very good and the showers have very good power. ||||As a side note: there is also a very good local onset close by, myself and my husband went and it was great!||||PS: we LOVED Jay! he was great!||||we will defiantly be back and recommending this hostel to friends and family. It makes perfect sense if you want to go to Tokyo but don't want to stay...
Read moreI’ve stayed a private room rather than domitory for 4 nights, which a room was relatively clean. This room has TV , hair dryer and small fridge for private use. A room with double bed, which is occupied 2/3 of room space. there’s a small work top too hence, there is no space to move around. A shared toilet and a powder room were clean but a shower room was very small unit shower . Hence, I went next door a sento (bath house), instead of have a shower at a hostel. staff are very nice pleasant. A lounge and a kitchen were occasionally very busy, and some guests were cooking a full meal, which they have occupied in a kitchen space very long time was no good . I have a problem with noise almost every day , around 2-3 o’clock in the morning people were having a shower , which wake me up in the middle of nights Otherwise, there is not problem with noise. |Overall, I’m satisfied my choice of a hostel, and it was a good...
