The guesthouse, managed by a young English-speaking Japanese couple, can accommodate groups of five or six per room. Most of the units, with private toilet and shower, will have lodgers sleeping Japanese style on tatami mats save for bunk-bed options in some rooms. For common gatherings, room 202 at the second level provides multiple uses as it contains a kitchen, dining space, lounging area, laundry machine, tub with shower and a separate toilet. Wifi is free, fast and reliable. There is a small elevator which goes up to the fifth floor as an alternative to the stairs. At the sixth level is a wide rooftop terrace providing a good view of the neighborhood and interchangeably tranforms into a bar-happening place during summertime. The guest can also choose to chill at the reception area on the first level. Being designed with indoor plants, books, lounge chairs and sofas plus accessories, it exudes a funky bohemian look. Upcycled décor is a recurring motif in the premises. The hotel is in a quiet residential neighborhood punctuated by laundry shops, bars, restaurants and small stores. A short walk away is the traditional shopping arcade housing a motley of restaurants, supply stores, boutiques, flower shops, gaming retailers and cafes. This guesthouse possesses a simple, non-fussy charm which complements the warm and helpful nature...

This was my favourite accommodation out of the 7 places I lived at during my Japan trip. I stayed in the private en suite double room for 2 nights, and it was an absolute oasis! Warehousey industrial design with a comfortable bed, significant common space, and a lovely kitchen. The hostel provides a kitchen set for rental at a very decent price, or you may choose to use the shared kitchen amenities on the ground floor.

The bathroom and toilet is separate, which is uncommon for Japanese accommodation. The crowd downstairs consists of visitors and locals using the bar and co-working space. A summer festival took place while I was there and there was refreshing cold somen and live kusic, enjoyed by lots of families with kids.

The vibe downstairs is chilled and laid back. Perfect for hanging out or having quiet time to yourself. The staff are so kind and wonderful I cannot...

What a gorgeous, stylish guesthouse. It felt more like a boutique hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn than a cheap shared room in a small town. The staff was really mild and helpful, even if their English was limited. The signage around the space included drawings so if the English wasn't clear, the picture removed confusion. There were also many signs for interesting things to do in the area, some of which were film and museum events you wouldn't easily stumble across on Google or blogs for the area. Rooms were secured with the specialized code given upon check-in, all the shared facilities were clean, well-lit and stocked with nice products. It's one of the most intuitive, comfortable spaces I've stayed in anywhere.

You can tell that the owner put A LOT of artistic attention to this guesthouse. The lobby area is decorated really well, and is very pleasant to look at. Unfortunately it is kind of small, but I see that they are looking to expand into the space next door. The location is close to downtown, and 10 walk to Wakayama castle. There is an amazing restaurant nearby that you must try "中心屋 母家". The floors are concrete (which is very nice, modern, and clean feeling), and there is a balcony. The sleeping areas are shared bunk beds, and everything about the place is clean, and I would highly recommend this place.
