Booked 3 stays in my current Japan trip and this was my second accommodation.Location: Sun Plaza Hotel Fuji Yamanakako, 1445-1 Yamanaka, Yamanakako, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi 401-0501Location: 20-30 minutes bus ride from Mt. Fuji station. This small town was located beside one of the 5 lakes around Mt. Fuji. This area was more popular with local tourist and tour groups from China. We notice people only frequent here in the morning and by evening the whole places becomes a ghost town. Also to add the fact that we were here during the Japan Golden week, many of the food stores were closed so we had to settle for convinient store food. There is a bicycle store outside the hotel that you can rent for ¥700/hr, or down the road at ¥2000/half day. Cycle to the Flower garden just 10minutes away to enjoy a beautiful view of flower field and mt. fuji in the background.Price and amenitiesThe room was equipped with basic goodies - toiletries, bidet and drinking water, Yukata, slippers and comb. The room was huge but very weird design and used of space. Other that the toolet bowl, the rest of the room was outdated and old.The bed was decently soft and pillow was solid hard. The TV turns on automatically at 6am everyday so we didn't get a goodnight sleep throughout the stay. The saving grace was the public bath! For the female onsen, we had collagen skin peel and pearl moisturiser that left my skin super soft! I was breaking out but after my visit to the onsen, my skin feels great!Check in and check out was easy and fast and they staffs were very friendly and helpful.Overall a decent stay! Definitely give this place a try if you're visiting Yamanakako for the first time, but do avoid any Japanese...
Read moreThere are two buildings the main building which is older and a newer built building next door.
I stayed in the older building and it definitely is showing its age with stained carpets and old AC but it’s not terrible and everything worked okay. Perhaps the new building is not as run down but I did not get the chance to check it out.
The breakfast was plentiful and not too expensive and there’s a lot of variety as well.
There is no free parking available because the hotel uses the available parking for tour buses. In fact it seems like the majority of the guests are via Chinese tour packages & the hotel is owned and run by Chinese.
If you’re used to Japanese levels of service and cleanliness this hotel might not be suitable but it’s not terrible.
There is free parking across the street so if you travel by car you can park there but it feels strange that the hotel would not provide some parking for the guests?
There’s a Family mart nearby which seems like it’s also owned by the hotel and it’s very convenient to have...
Read moreLocation: Great. Right across the lake. Some restaurants nearby. There’s a Family Mart right beside the hotel which is awesome!
Rooms: The biggest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in Japan. Spacious, comfy beds, overall clean. However, the heat/cool system has switched to heat so no ac. Understandable at night because it is chilly at night, however, during the day it is SO hot in the room. We were told at check out that we couldn’t open the windows because of the bugs, so it was pretty hot during the day.
Amenities: There’s a laundry room in the hotel which is great! 600 yen for wash and dry, 300 yen for wash only, and 100 yen for dry only. No need to bring detergent. Didn’t use the onsen but it seemed like a lot of guests used it. Also didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant but I think it’s 2000 yen per adult for dinner. Not sure about breakfast.
Other: This hotel is huge so there was at least one tour bus parked at the hotel each night. No issues but we could hear the tourists at night outside, even from...
