I stayed here for a night in one of the higher end rooms while visiting Japan. While I can’t say I have much experience with ryokans in general, I can safely say this place has set the bar quite high! Friendly service, exceptionally well planned meals, and an atmosphere that preserves the historic feel of this renewed facility all await guests here. Make sure you come hungry, especially if you love eel (unagi)!
Naturally, there are shared baths (gender separated) with wood and stone construction that offer a great experience for those seeking a traditional experience. For those who are a bit shy, there are also in-room baths that allow bathing in privacy that replicate the larger baths on a single-person scale.
I highly recommend this ryokan and look forward to visiting again...
Read moreWe had a fantastic stay here. The rooms were clean and very well kept, and the bath in our room was particularly spotless and fresh. Since it's an onsen town, there is a constant flow of hot water going into the bath which means it's very convenient to take as many as you like!
The meals served were outstanding. Be sure to have a strong appetite going in, they make sure you don't leave hungry. The ingredients were all very fresh and they made heavy use of seasonal items from around the area.
The staff and service were kind, humorous and genuine. It was a very comfortable stay!
The river alongside the room also provided nice white noise for sleeping, if...
Read moreWe had a lovely 2 night stay at this beautiful Ryokan. We had a small misunderstanding or two but the staff at the Ryokan resolved the issue very quickly and politely. Overall we loved this place very much and found so many staff to be so friendly and welcoming with a fanstaic ability to make us feel comfortable without feeling intruded upon. I was able to eat gluten free here, the food was 100% amazing. The staff serving I felt were so beautiful and...
