We went to Naeba for 2 days for a snow and ski break. Since we wanted to avoid a big hotel as the Prince Ski Hotel, we stayed at Yukikkoso. The reviews of this small hotel gave us a warm and comfy feeling. Unfortunately not our experience.||Service: Poor|We were whisked out of the guestroom and directed to go right away upstairs to our room. I guess the 2 tables and the chairs are just for decoration and serving breakfast. Just as asking the owner for some information about the neighborhood (sightseeing etc) was too much to ask. Google maps is much friendlier :). And after an incident of black bugs in the bathroom and our room and the owner absolutely not willing to help (literally: ..." if I have to help all guests removing these bugs, I will be busy forever...") we decided just to ignore this rudeness and accepted the situation as it was.||The room & bathroom: Outdated|A simple Japanese style room with a washbasin, thin mattresses and stained bedcovers. The rest of the room was clean though. We did cover a broken wooden cupboard with a sweater and made sure not to put anything on the tv shelf which was about to collapse.||Breakfast: Good|There's no restaurant but the owner served breakfast which was good. Sausages, salad, egg, bread, butter, and marmalade. ||Location: Average|It's a firm 10 minutes walk to the ski slopes of Prince Ski Resort. There are some small cozy restaurants and a supermarket in the street. The food hall of Prince Hotel serves very good meals for reasonable prices.||The bus to Echigo Yuzawa stops nearby the hotel and comes frequently. Very convenient. Extra fee if you bring a suitcase.||Notes:|Yukikkoso closes its doors at...

When we first arrived we received some very bad news from home, and the owners went out of their way to help us. Mei Leng, who is multi lingual, spent hours on the phone helping us to search flights home, and took care of me like a mother. It is rare to experience such extraordinary kindness! ||The hotel itself is sweet, rooms typical Japanese style with nice separate male and female onsens in the basement. Five minute walk to the slopes. Great breakfast. Good eateries nearby. My personal recommendation is to spend your time in the village itself and avoid the tacky Prince resort.||My sincere thanks to Yukikkosa - We will certainly return to resume our trip...
Read moreThe couple owners (Mr. and Mrs. Kojima) are very friendly, English spoken. Mrs. Kojima can speak Indonesian. The location of Petit Hotel from Echigoyuzawa station take a bus to Naeba (Seibu Entrance) about 30 mins driving (Adult: JPY 660 and Child: JPY 330). The hotel is very quiet with unique decorations. It is closed to Naeba ski resort (5 mins walk). There are a few convenient stores for daily needs (about 5 - 15 mins walk). We can see skiers in Naeba ski resort from our bedroom and livingroom, very nice! It has heaters in every room. Although the hotel is quite old, but it has a Japanese shower room (for men and women, equipped with shampoo, conditioner, bath foam and hairdryer) and hot pool, so we can soak in...
