I stayed at Merryland Hotel in Amman for a total of 5 days โ 2 nights upon arrival from the UK, and then 3 more nights after returning from Petra and Wadi Rum โ simply because it was so good the first time.|Although officially rated as a 3-star hotel, I would confidently rate it closer to 5 stars. The reception area is beautifully maintained, and the rooms were spotless, modern, and very comfortable โ ideal after long travel days.|A special mention goes to Mohammed and Hashem at reception, both of whom were incredibly hospitable, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Their service made a big difference and added to the warm, personal atmosphere of the hotel.|The buffet breakfast was decent, and what really stood out was the genuine kindness and guidance from the staff. There was no pressure at all to book tours โ just honest, helpful advice on what to see in Amman and nearby areas.|One particularly lovely touch is that the owner of the hotel is present at breakfast each morning, personally greeting guests and sharing local tips about hidden nature spots and lesser-known attractions โ the kind of places only locals know about. It added a real sense of community and connection.|The location is also excellent โ within walking distance to Downtown, the King Abdullah I (Blue) Mosque, and not far from the JETT bus station in Abdali. Plus, itโs only about 17 miles from Queen Alia International Airport, which makes it super convenient whether you're arriving or departing.|Overall, Merryland Hotel exceeded all my expectations. Itโs clean, comfortable, well-located, and run by genuinely kind people. I would absolutely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone...
ย ย ย Read moreWe came here on 22nd of November after a long trip from Wadi Rum and were looking forward to staying in Amman. The receptionist did not smile or greet us and was not welcoming at all - first time we had this in Jordan. We had reserved the deluxe double room with a view. Instead we opened the door to the room he had given us and it was single beds with a view of a wall and air con unit. The windows were filthy, the toilet wasn't flushed, bathroom wasn't clean and the television didn't work. We thought, well, perhaps because we are two men the receptionist did not want to give us a double bed, we heard this can happen sometimes in Jordan, so not wanting to cause a fuss we just asked that the bathroom be cleaned then went out for a walk. When we returned a few hours later, the male receptionist and his female colleague at the front desk were talking about us and gesturing towards us behind our backs, laughing (note to staff - the elevator doors are mirrored so we can see exactly what you are doing even if our backs are turned). We went up to the room and nothing had been cleaned, it was as we had left it. They said it had been cleaned but this was not the case. We left and went to the Canary Boutique Hotel up the road. Same price, ten times better. And most importantly - they were nice to us at the front desk.
If we had received a warm welcome at this hotel we would have been a lot more forgiving of the hotel's shortcomings and I would not have felt the need to leave this review.
It's 2022. You may not agree with two men booking a double bed, but there's no need to treat them with such...
ย ย ย Read moreVery mixed feeling about this hotel: the location is in front of a heavily trafficated road, surroundings are quite ugly. At first I got a narrow room that barely contained the bed, luckily the staff was kind enough to change my room with another that... had a wall 3m from the windows, basically it was dark all the time there! Actually, the window faced an internal shaft...
Room was old and ugly, furniture needs renovation. Decent cleaning, good bathroom (but I the shower head was almost clogged, and first day there was no hot water). Wifi was a disaster, breakfast poor. Didn't like to attitude of someone of the staff that likely was acting as he didn't know about the wifi, whilst I liked a lot the honest conversation with the assistant manager. At the end they made a discount, BUT in the same time they canceled the reservation made on Booking, so they didn't pay commission and I wasn't able to leave a review there. The relatively low price doesn't fix the poor experience.
Other reviews have better score because actually several rooms face the road or the streets around, but keep in mind to ask before. Finally, I met several people that were turned down due to...
