Bayt Jameela Hostel / guest house — Hotel in Amman

Would definitely recommend staying here. More like a Coliving than a hostel, all private rooms with shared bathroom & kitchen & lounge/rooftop for hangouts. I had a big room with a big balcony I loved! Run by 2 brothers the place is named after their mother ‘Jameela’s house’ & has a family feel. Extremely welcoming the guys can help you with reasonably priced airport transfers, local food recommendations, PCR testing etc. Tim helped me with my Jordanian SIM card & got me some local food my first day there which was above & beyond anywhere I’ve previously stayed. There’s a local WhatsApp group for all the guests to communicate. Excellent location - 5-10 mins walk from local shops/restaurants. Feels extremely safe. Please note it’s COLD in winter so bring enough clothes & you may need to pay for extra gas for heating (about 7 JOD per gas tank) - they will last a few days depending on how conservatively you use them. Solid budget option for travellers/Nomads etc. Was able to work online including conference calls without issue 90% of the time - there was a local area power out that impacted several blocks because of the snowstorm. For Nomads nearby options to work online include Manara (3m walk away with lovely views), Dimitris, Dali had very solid internet during the day (becomes more crowded as a bar later). Very disapointing. The location is good and the place has potential but maintenance and cleanliness should be improved, as well as responsiveness. In particular, there was a leak problem in the bathroom, and it was completely repaired only after 3 full days, during to 2 of which the bathroom was completely out of order. I could use the one of another apartment in the same street, but it’s really not convenient, so I think compensation should have been offered. And the bathroom was left dirty after the repair, espacially the bathtub and the sink.

Also if you don’t book on airbnb but directly from the owner, make sure to agree on the room and the price beforehand, otherwise you may have surprises.
