We stayed here for 8 days within a 12 day period. 2 others and I were here on a community service project to serve a local semi slum area outside Nairobi. ||The staff were helpful and did anything they could to serve your needs. ||||The grounds:||Located of a main road, their are small "Duka's" (Shops) within walking distance. Close by there is a gas station, a product store, a java house and a couple small restaurants. ||within the guest house it was nice. They took a lot of pride in the landscape. ||||The staff:||They have a cook that is around most times. He will ask you for your order and make it by scratch. Grace is the grounds manager and was helpful. They also have many maid staff that are around all day long as well. Grace is pictured. ||||The rooms:||We got a discounted prices for our rooms. for one person, we paid $25 USD a night. It was virtually a bed and bath. nothing else. For two people to stay in the room is was $35 USD. Great prices for a cheap bed. We spend only our sleeping hours there. They do have 1 outlet per room - but make sure to bring a 220V adapter. It does get warm, so bring a fan if you can - sometimes there is not a window or little air flow. Showers have instant heaters attached for warmth. Our was broken our whole stay, but our friends worked well and got warm showers the whole time. ||One issue is that it is very noisy. You can hear anyone else in the building open and shut their door in your room. Woke me up most nights often. Each room has a window that faces the common area- and often times you can shut them... so its like your sleeping next to the dining area. If your early to rise it wont cause much issue - if late to bed - consider others :)||||Accommodations:||They had free Wifi in the common areas. huge bonus. Most places charge money for wifi in the area. They also have a small fridge with some cold drinks you could buy on your honor. 1 dollar for water or soda. The patio seating area was very nice - and a fun place to unwind or play some cards. Outside the house they had restrooms as well you could use - more of an outhouse feel - but with western toilets. ||No pool or exercise stuff... just a basic bed and toilet with a seating area. served us well for our stay though.||||Overall:||We enjoyed our staff and would stay here again in the future. Staff was helpful -and it was a killer price. It is nothing like a western hotel by any means - but is very doable in the area it is in. ||||Recommendations:||Request a room furthest away from the commons if you want to sleep well. any noise at all travels through the whole building. You will need to ask for internet access for the password upon arrival. ||||Staff was great - and always felt safe and comfortable with the...

Read moreClassic Guest Home is not 'A Home Away From Home' as the sign at the entrance announces. The hotel has a number of rooms and a very strange layout. Larger rooms are en suit with double bed, mosquito net, towels and soap. The smaller rooms don't have any external windows. Breakfast is fair - and pretty standard; a menu for lunch and dinner and a small outside seating area. There is parking, and its a short walk to the Kasuku Centre if you need anything. Wifi is surprisingly good. If you need / want to stay in the area and / or don't want to spend much, this is an option that is fine - and a very good price. Not a place to hang out at - so fine if you are out...
