Doric Cottages Diani, Kenya — Hotel in Ukunda ward

This year I was at Doric Cottages for the third time. The other times were for a short stay, this time for 2 months (online working for 6 weeks and holiday for 2 weeks). The cottage is good, cleaning is done every two days. The pool is nice. Recent they made a lot of improvements; repainting the cottages and renewing things that needed an update. The wifi was better than a year ago. During my stay they placed solar so when the Kenya power was down, we still had power. The staff is friendly and helpful. The current manager Antony is great. He is paying attention to all the details to make my stay better and to make the place better. So if I am going to Diani Beach again, it will be at Doric Cottages.

I give 4 stars in general. 5 star accomodation nearby are more expensive. For the price rate I would give 5 stars, that's why I made it 5 starts. 4 stars for location, because its nearby everything. 5 stars I would give an accomodation...

We stayed for one night though we had planned to stay for 5. Main reason was that it was dirty, kitchen was poorly equipped, fridge felt like it was going to topple at the slightest touch, torn covers, mosquitoes smashed on mosquitoenets and not cleaned..

The layout is beautiful, has a lot of potential, I would still give it another trial in future. I think the lack of maintenance was mainly due to covid and...

They canceled my reservation the day before travel saying that they accidentally overbooked. Not sure how that was possible cause I talked to 4 different staff members yet none realized it beforehand. I got a way better place though... at a way better deal.
