I stayed at the hotel late September, roughly a month before my last visit. At that time everything was wonderful, and I was excited to return. ||||Three times in the first hour I was at the hotel I had to return to the desk because my key cards stopped working. This has never happened before on my previous stays. While Jana and her co-worker at the front desk were more than helpful and very kind this is a massive inconvenience and one that is quite avoidable. ||||Something truly odd to me was the wi-fi not being able to stay up and running on my phone. The hotel certainly has less visitors, however, the signal kept fading out and I had to rejoin the network over a dozen times just to see it drop off again. Unless you have switched providers, which I do not believe is even an option at this time there’s no reason for the system to be so poorly maintained a connection cannot remain up. ||||I understand much has changed in the region since October 7. To that I expected changes. I was disappointed with the reduced room service offering but it’s a necessary and understandable business decision. I decided to order the mushroom Swiss burger-medium well, what I received was barely cooked burger. Unacceptable. There is never a reason to not cook someone’s food to order. Being on the road and needing to be able to move at a moment’s notice I cannot risk food borne illnesses. I called the room service department and told them to come get the burger as I did not want it due to the improper cook temperature. I informed them I did not want anything further to eat and that I was going to sleep. ||||Over the next 60-90 minutes I received three phone calls from various personnel regarding my order. Each of these spaced out to where I was not able to get any meaningful sleep. I had flown overnight from the United States and transferred in Turkey with virtually no lay over time, or sleep on my journey. After these calls a short time later, I was awakened by a knock at my room door. It was a Food and Beverage person delivering some snacks and fruit to my room. While this is a very welcome gesture and appreciated, I can not understand why me telling people multiple times I wanted to sleep was ignored and I was continuously disturbed. This was completely unacceptable as well. I should be able to sleep peacefully in a hotel without disruption. While I understand the staff may have wanted clarification on the food order or try and make it up to me, I just wanted and desperately needed rest. ||||On what ended up being my second to last day I returned to my room to freshen up for the evening. I went to brush my teeth and noticed a peculiar chemical taste in my mouth. It would appear while cleaning the housekeeping staff had sprayed or somehow gotten a cleaning chemical on my toothbrush. I tried cleaning the toothbrush however it could not be ridden of the substance. While it was an electronic toothbrush and I did not have placement heads with me I was without it for the remainder of my travels. This was my last straw and the reason I moved to another hotel the next five nights I remained in Beirut. ||||Situations beyond control happen. Those I will never hold against a property. Most of what I have described here is for some reason a 180 degree shift in performance in the last month. The staff for the most part is quite welcoming. Jana remembers me from my first visit two years ago because of my passport. She is a smiling familiar face that I look forward to seeing in Beirut. I have received wonderful room upgrades and welcome amenities. Those I can do without, what I need is sleep, reliability and knowledge that care will be taken around my...
Read moreDuring my 5night stay at this hotel over the holidays, I was extremely disappointed by the hospitality. I encountered numerous minor issues that significantly impacted my enjoyment. The shower handle was faulty, causing significant water to spill onto the bathroom floor, and there were no bath mat or toiletries provided. I had to repeatedly ask the front desk at least 6 times. They did change my room but that brought on another set of issues, the room was uncomfortably hot, the AC unit didn’t not work. When the window was opened to let in some air, it immediately filled with noise from the busy street outside. The television had static on some channels, and others did not work at all. For about an 1 hr 30mins, staff kept coming in and out of the room and this was at night since I checked into the hotel in the evening. The last staff left the room closer to 10:30pm.
Despite my efforts to address these issues with the front desk and my request to speak to the manager, I was unable to speak with management as they were unavailable. I tried for 2 days. In my 5-night stay, the manager never once reached out to me to address any of the concerns. Not once.
Its clear that this older property has a number of maintenance issues that need to be addressed and I totally understand that things happen, but the worst part was the hotel's complete lack of interest in making any amends or effort to make up for the negative experience. This is not the level of service one should expect from a 4-star hotel. Even 2-3 star hotels would have offered more.
As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I understand the importance of addressing even the smallest issues and ensuring a good customer experience. In this day and age, with the economy and so many competitors, hospitality and good customer service go a long way in generating business and separating oneself from others. If the manager had called and we could have easily resolved this and I would not have to write a negative review.
Lebanon is absolutely beautiful and highly recommend visiting the country, but the numerous issues and sheer lack of effort to address them, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anymore. I would never stay here again or advise anyone else to. Unfortunately they lost my business along with my travel circle. There are many other options in better areas that offer superior service and amenities for a comparable price (i.e. Hilton and IHG).
This is in response to Ms. Kawas claim to add points to my account - that’s incorrect. I was supposed to get 8048 point for this stay as indicated in my email reservation, yet upon checking my Marriott Bonvoy account, I only received 7283. Not even the full amount of points due to me based on my reservation. So what extra points are you referring to? I have receipts. In regards to the assistant manager, that was the second day. If you were aware of me trying to reach out to the manager due to my concerns, why didn’t you reach out sooner to make amends? Instead you waited till I checked out to come see me. That makes absolutely no sense. Once again, lack of hospitality and...

Though we didnt expect too much from this place, as we are well aware of what a Four Points outlet offers as well as having stayed here a decade ago. But even then it felt more bland and basic than we expected. If you're not addicted to Marriott properties (like I am) then stay elsewhere.
LOCATION: Located in Verdun district with easy access to most points of interest
DINE + DRINK: The breakfast was one of the top highlights of our stay. Absolutely worth waking up for! Excellent selection of FRESHLY PREPARED local dishes whipped up by highly capable chefs and served by very warm and friendly staff. The lobby bar is a characterless plug-in to this place and not worth even dropping into to check.
ROOM: We stayed in 812, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Random views of the cityscape and the sea at a distance; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: An almost nonfunctional air-conditioner that heated up the room like a sauna. We struggled to sleep because of the sub-optimal temperature.; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES:
FACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to the folks at the Restaurant who took care of us so wonderfully during Breakfast
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages
COVID UPDATE: THe property has done an excellent job of ensuring safety, social distancing and hygiene to minimize the risk as much as possible. Especially the Common areas and Restaurant had a good implementation of the...
