A Disheartening Return to What Once Was

On July 12, I went to Roadster after being away from Lebanon and craving it for more than 10 years. I was genuinely excited—I grew up with Roadster. When it first opened in Hamra 20 years ago, I was there almost every other day and had tried nearly everything on the menu. Sadly, this visit left me extremely disappointed, and I won’t be coming back.

From the start, the atmosphere was chaotic. The staff were arguing loudly right beside our table. The manager—or what seemed to be the head waiter (he had a bit of a moustache)—was doing his best to keep things under control, but the vibe was tense and unwelcoming.

The food took 30 minutes to arrive, and it wasn’t even peak time.

We ordered the double crunch burger. While the patty itself was good, the burger came out completely dry—no sauce at all. Who serves a burger with no sauce?

Then came the Swiss truffle burger. It was missing all the core ingredients: no arugula, no mushrooms, no caramelized onions. We pointed it out, and they brought it back—but still, it was dry, flavorless, and again… no sauce.

The chicken Greek salad was another letdown. It was covered in parmesan and came out white—not what you expect from a Greek salad. When we asked about the feta, they just added some on top.

The manager offered us a marble mud pie as a courtesy, but even that was off—it didn’t taste anything like the classic dessert we grew up loving.

Roadster, what happened? The food, the service, the experience—everything has declined dramatically. This wasn’t just a bad visit. It felt like the...

Edit: I was contacted by Roadster’s customer service and they followed up on my review in detail, which is rare in Lebanon, deserving the high rating. It is clear that they care about their customers and want to fix the issue, keep it up.

Previous review: I visited Roadster ABC Verdun branch today, and I ordered a Caesar salad, fries, and chicken strips. The service was slow which is expected since it was quite busy (not the reason why I gave a low rating), but the Caesar salad I ordered was not fresh at all and it didn’t even seem like it was prepared today. This is not acceptable because the only main ingredient is literally lettuce, nothing special. I could not eat it. Either it was old, or it wasn’t stored properly in the fridge - not okay either way especially with the high number of food poisoning cases these days. Hope this will be fixed.
