El Soussi is an old and a traditional Lebanese breakfast place since the 1900.

Back in 2013, it was selected as one of the The World's Best Breakfast by CNN.

El Soussi is located in a narrow street in Beirut so finding a parking spot is a bit hard.

The place has an indoor seating area as well as few tables on the sidewalk.

As for the hygiene and cleanliness, there is always room for improvement.

The menu is limited and consists of the usual foul, hummus, Fatte, eggs and Msabha as well as Fweregh and Nkhaat.

We have tried: Foul Fatte Msabha Eggs with Awarma Sawda

The breakfast was served with bread, olives, pickles and a selection of vegetables on the side.

The foul is tasty.

The Fatte is superb. The chickpeas are soft with just the right amount of yogurt topped with fried bread and nuts.

The Msabha is balanced and really good.

The eggs with Awarma is tasty and well seasoned.

The sawda is the highlight of our breakfast. Its very tender and is highly recommended

Few items aren’t always available as they go out of stock immediately.

As for the prices, they are pocket friendly however the portion is small so we had to double the order.

The service is good and quick with friendly and down to...

I had the pleasure of dining at El Soussi restaurant recently. The restaurant has been serving traditional Lebanese breakfast for many years, and it is clear that they know what they are doing. The service was also excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who were happy to make recommendations.

I enjoyed a variety of dishes, including eggs and awrama, sawda (liver), and fettah. The eggs and awrama were hearty and flavorful, with the eggs cooked perfectly. The sawda (liver) was a traditional Lebanese dish that was grilled and served with onions, tomatoes, and spices. It was also hearty and flavorful. The fettah was a light and refreshing dish of hommos, yogurt and toasted bread. The yogurt added a nice tanginess to the dish.

Overall, I had a wonderful experience at El Soussi restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic...

This is another famous restaurant in Beirut which has been recommended by CNN and also visited by many celebrities. It is a no frills dining place you don't expect this place to be high end with a proper menu. Recommended to go with someone local who can help you to order the special dishes to try. Got the honour of seeing the old owner himself preparing and cooking my dishes. He is a quiet man of few words yet can see how nimble his hands are and how fast he can whip up dishes. Be in surprise for what you eat cause there might be some 'fear factor' for people who are not used to eating slightly exotic stuff. It was definitely an experience for me eating sheep's brains which I loved it a lot, and also the liver. I don't really eat a lot of liver elsewhere but here it is so well cooked and the sauce packs so much flavour to the meat. If you want to go with the safer options try the hummus, fatteh, eggs with meat or salads. Highly recommended and best to visit on...

One of the most fascinating hidden gems of Beirut, it holds the spirit of old Beirut, everything about the place is old and authentic, including the taste and recipes. It all started in 1890 as a small shack right behind the municipality of Beirut on Wegand street, later it in the 1930s the placed moved to a bigger place, then after the end of the war it moved to it’s current location. The place has won severan awards and has been recognized by world famous food shows and contests. Raji Kibbeh who is the grandson of the late Hajj Mahmoud Soussi who established the place still prepares food at the restaurant now. The man is super swift, fast, and very chatty! Food at Soussi is great, mainly the “Fatteh” along other dishes as well. But make sure you go there early as the place closes at around 2, and on 4 at rare occasions. The place is relatively cheap, around 3 to 4$ max / plate.
