On the way from Riga to Vilnius, my friends and I stopped at Siauliai to visit the Hill of Crosses. This guest house is truly a gem in the city. Situated in a residential area, the location was quiet. No barking dogs, no noisy neighbors nor noises from passing cars. It is about a 7 to 10 minutes from the bus station and about 15 to 20 minutes to the train station and about 5 minutes walk to the city center. The staff was very helpful in answering my numerous emails. The guest house was clean and the bath room quite big. The communal kitchen has free coffee and tea with a microwave and electric water kettle. I can’t remember whether it has a stove but we didn’t need it. Two bottle of water were provided. The refrigerator was clean and not cluttered with other food. The staff said the guest house opened just a few months ago in March, 2017 . The WiFi worked great. It is also reasonably priced. The staff pre-ordered a taxi for us for the next morning early check out. She told me since we have a lot of luggages ( 4 total ), she purposely ordered a bigger taxi. The taxi used meter so we weren’t ripped off. My friend kept telling me how much she loves this guest house. If I have friends going to Siauliai, I would definitely recommend this...
Read moreGiven the lack of quality accommodation options in town, Juro’s location make it an ok option. The lady running it is also very earnest and friendly, and some of their rooms can accommodate families. ||Despite these there is little reason to stay here. The basic, dismal-looking room is clean but rather stale with poor ventilation. It smells of cleaning agents. There is no air conditioning even though a panel seems to suggest it does, and no fan in the room either (we visited during summer). They also won’t make up your bed for you so guests should be ready to DIY. There are also no blackout curtains (only thin curtains) so it gets quite bright in the room.||Guests can use the shared kitchen facilities on the first floor.||It’s not horrible, but quality and value simply isn’t there. Despite this Juro may still be a viable option if you really need a place to crash in town. Only...

Due to the lack of adequate hotels in international quality standards this new addition to the Siauliai appartment, B&B and hotel scene could have been made a difference. It didn't!
Why?
furniture and decor is cheap plastic from DIY stores (I'd call it eastern european standard if you know what I mean) - will be worn-out within 1 year or so - not prepared for daily cleaning and hotel business!!
bathroom stinks of dry syphon and is very tight, missing towel for wet floor
Good is the location close to pedestian road and relatively nice environment (small wooden villas) - note: this city isnot prepared for tourism, restaurants andn bars are limited as hotels are!!
Reception lady can't speak anything else than Russian and Lithianian,...
