Leja — Restaurant in Šiauliai

Have been there in 2017 August. Came here with reservation for six people. That day, it was very important meeting for me, with other people, but the restaurant a little bit screw it. This place is totally not worth for the price. Our company of six people ordered mascarpone turkey, grilled dish from duck, salad with turkey, Belgium waffles and etc. Paid about total 250 Euro and here below my opinion, what was very awful in this restaurant. The salads were not fresh especially in August, when it's the harvest season in Lithuania and they didnt even manage to get fresh salads. Turkey in salads and in hot dish was completely overcooked and dry. Mascarpone sauce I can't even describe how was terrible, it was too sweet, too watery and whole mascarpone turkey dish were flooding in its souce. Only duck was quite good, but also a little bit overcooked. Belgium waffles was a total parody, you cant even call this a belgium waffle, it's was badly overcooked. About restaurant service. Nothing good as well or even worst not sure which is more terrible or the food, or the waitresses service in this restaurant. The waitress didn't even know basic servicing rules, such as pouring wine, understanding the fork and knife placed positions. Also, she didn't know at all the restaurant meniu. For this kind of restaurant it is necessary for waitresses to understand and know these things. Also, the variation of wine was poor or maybe I get bad opinion about wine selection in this restaurant, because the waitress did not knew the meniu. In this town there are many so-called restaurants, but there are not many good, but as for this restaurant I recommend to avoid it, because it is too pricey for what you can get it, even comparing with major cities in Europe. I don't know why it has 4,5 star maybe it was bad luck for me or just 4,5 for good interior (I admit, the interior of this restaurant is great), but I never had that bad experience in restaurant like...

We had some business plans in this small country and we had to go from Vilnius to Klaipeda. As we had some stupid GPS we got wrong way. We were driving some hours and then decided to stop in Siauliai. thIt looks very small city, not so much people. But so much restaurants for this small place it was weird. We saw beautiful terrace of LEJA and thought it will be very expensive restaurant. We decided that we deserved i after this long trip... When we got menu we were surprised because prices are not big. Really. We ate so much there and took some desserts out of the restaurant. They are brilliant. The food was also very good and high quality, everything was so tasty. Based on reviews I really wanted to get there. On the spot I realized that the place is on the "main tourist street" and was worried that it is a tourist trap.

Gladly experience was far from that.

Two beautiful ladies were working on that day, we got the one who was as good looking as polite. Communication in English was not a problem. She explained kindly most of the options on the menu, gave suggestions.

Food - just great. Big plus for having vegan options (usually a hard thing to come by in smaller towns / touristy places).

Price not the cheapest but at the same time ok for the main street of the town.

Only complaint - interior felt a bit "cheap", wanna be posh yet clearly showing signs of not being one. Also we were unlucky to get a table where there were a few stains on table cloth.
