I recently stayed at Hotel Koener with my mum for two nights, and I genuinely wish I could have stayed longer. From the moment I walked through the doors, the service was phenomenal—every interaction with the staff was warm, welcoming, and truly exceptional.
Upon arrival, Pedro greeted us with such kindness and professionalism, making us feel instantly at home despite my early arrival. His hospitality set the tone for an incredible stay. Later on, Tony checked us in, and he was just as friendly and accommodating throughout the process, ensuring everything was seamless and comfortable. The level of service from both of them was truly top-tier.
The spa facilities were nothing short of spectacular. The sauna was one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in any hotel, and the pool and jacuzzi were absolutely perfect for relaxation. The hotel also had a fantastic gym and a tranquil relaxation area with a selection of complimentary herbal teas and infused water, adding an extra touch of luxury. The ambience of the lighting, music and decorative touches truly enhanced the relaxation experience.
Our room was stunning—spacious, modern, and beautifully designed, offering the ultimate comfort for a restful stay. Every detail, from the decor to the amenities, was carefully curated to provide an atmosphere of elegance and relaxation.
Dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Brasserie Koener, was another highlight. Tony from reception ensured that our dining experience was memorable. Our waiter, Ryan, provided impeccable service, ensuring that every aspect of our meal was perfect. He was attentive, efficient, and incredibly friendly, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. The food itself was out of this world, we ordered a Charcuterie board to share for starters, and for main I opted for Homemade beef tartare with condiments and mashed potato whilst my mum went for Butcher's sirloin steak, french fries with archduke sauce. Every dish prepared to perfection, my mum said that was the best beef sirloin she ever had, and I personally feel like it says a lot for a hotel to serve beef tartare as it requires exceptional attention to quality and freshness—huge compliments to the chef!
Overall, Hotel Koener is an absolute gem. The staff’s dedication to excellence, the luxurious facilities, and the outstanding service made this stay unforgettable. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a truly...
Read moreThis hotel is definitely my worst hotel experience ever. It does not happen often when you are happy to check out from your long weekend get away, thanks to Hotel Koener for making us want to get back home and to work :) On our first night we were forced to listen to horrific dance music till 3 am because of the wedding that was happening in this same hotel it was so loud that even the earplugs did not help. If we would have known that they were organizing this type of parties we would have NEVER booked this place. We came for a long weekend from Belgium and we had the next day planned full of activities which we had to do after a very stressful night with few hours of sleep. We tried to contact the reception at about 1am to tell that we could not sleep because of the noise. After the first call we received a lot of apologies and a lie about the time when the party will be over, after the second call we received some more apologies and suggestion to speak to the manager the next day - all very useful when you desperately need to sleep. The wifi in the hotel does not work. The bathtub was dirty. The room only had thick curtains on one of the windows so the light was coming in and keeping us up adding up to our exhaustion. The light sensors are extremely irritating - if one person gets up to go to the bathroom the other one will wake up because the light goes on automatically next to the bathroom. The last morning of our stay my boyfriend did not have warm water to shower, and we are talking ice cold. After this shitshow we can not understand how this place is one of the highest rated in the area, they definitely do not deseve it. So nothing positive you ask? After this nightmare of experience I can not find it in me to say anything good and if there was anything that was right it did not matter because we were too exhausted to enjoy it, like that spacious bathtub which we could have used after...
Read moreAccess to the room is unconventional as the hotel appears to have spread to neighbouring buildings. The room is minimally equipped, no coffee making facilities, tv with international channels blocked, a large walk in shower - with no taps or shower head, and to top it off - sheets that do not fit the very bouncy mattress. Thankfully the receptionist took pity and lent his personal coffee machine to us, which was a better response than the laughing in my face I got when I went to report the telephone in the room was not working - "No, they don't work, ha ha." - "but there is no coffee machine, so how do I call for Room Service?". Having had an early start and gone out for the day we returned in the afternoon to find the in fitting sheets unattended to. We had to go out of our way to get the room serviced - atrocious attention to detail. This was generally a sleepless weekend in a building that lacked charm or character. It is a shame as Clervaux is interesting and Luxembourg a place in which I hold higher expectation. Due to these considerations I believe it appropriate that the room rate is reduced and a refund given. I can certainly not recommend the hotel without significant...
