I am going to apologize to the owner in advance as this is not going to be a good review.
First, let me start by saying that I do not really care about how the room looks, but I do care about its cleanliness.
I booked the room here just based on the room photos online and the mountainous view the lodge has. Based on online photos, the room had a modest bed with a modest side table, a wall fan and a modest bathroom, which is all fine for me.
But when I arrived at the room, it was not clean at all. The bathroom was filled with lizard droppings, the room floor had some on them as well. Not to mention that the wall behind the door had a hole which was patched up with cellophane tape. Not a good look at all. The only thing this lodge has going for it is the mentioned mountainous view. The lodge requires a lot of work.
To top it all off, I paid a total of RM118 (incl tax) per night which is way too high for the quality that was provided! I would be willing to pay RM50 a night for this place. Definitely not at the mentioned price.
Now that I’m doing this review, I realized I should have taken some photos of the mentioned lizard droppings everywhere, but I was too grossed out and quickly drove around the general area to find another place, which I did.
The place was called The Hills Kundasang and it was RM163 per night, which cost only slightly more than the lodge, but the difference in quality, comfort, facilities, and cleanliness was way too stark!!
I booked a room at the new place, went back to the lodge to get my bags and checked out, to the surprise of the receptionist. I politely said that the room was not satisfactory (to say the least) and that no refund was needed (I had already paid in full).
A reminder to myself, do not skimp on accomodation just because it cost...

Read moreThe mountain view and the cats are the keys to create my stay more memorable and i miss both of them. I will return for these. The location is near to the kundasang market, you basically can just walk there. Plus there is a stall selling satay/chicken wing at the roadside before turning into the hotel, grab them for dinner/supper is heaven at night. Basic facilties provided, such as tower, hanger, shower gel, hair dryer (request at counter). There is pantry where you can cook your own food as well with fridge, cooking pot are provided. Blackout during the stay is pretty much normal, so dont be suprised if you encounter few times. However, the signboard at the main road slightly blocked by bushes/trees, you will need to slow down after Kundasang market. The road from main road to hotel, its a down hill, 45 degree down hill (my own feeling : ), so please drive safe. They have limited room available, so...
