I would like to share my experience with the hotel staff. Just to provide some context, I have been to many hotels before, ranging from 5-star establishments to more modest ones. In general, I have had positive experiences with the staff. However, during my recent stay at this hotel, I encountered some issues. It was late at night, around 12 am, when I decided to book a room at this hotel through Agoda. The booking process went smoothly, and I fully paid for the room. However, upon arrival, I was informed by a staff member, his name is Sarip that he couldn't check me in because I needed to book the room for the previous date. Let me explain: I made the booking at 12 pm on the 25th, and he advised me to book it for the 24th. How could I have done that when it was already the 25th at 12 pm? It didn't make logical sense to me.
Furthermore, he explained that I had to wait until 2 pm to check in. This was inconvenient for me because I needed the room as soon as possible, especially since I had already made a full payment. He then suggested that I pay again if I wanted to stay and advised me to avoid making online payments in the future and instead pay at the hotel. Again, this didn't seem logical to me. What was the difference between paying online and paying at the hotel? To simplify, he basically said that I could stay if I paid at the hotel as a walk-in guest and that I wouldn't have to wait until 2 pm to check in. However, if I paid online, I would have to wait until 2 pm to check in. Can you see the issue I'm trying to highlight now? Frustrated, I requested to speak with the manager, but the staff member refused to let me do so. In my four years of working in the hospitality field, I have always allowed customers to speak with the manager, so I couldn't understand why he wouldn't let me. Eventually, after some discussion, he agreed to call the manager, and I was finally able to obtain the room. There was one more issue: when he asked for my ID, I provided my passport since I had lost my ID and was in the process of getting a new one. Surprisingly, he refused to accept my passport, even though I have stayed at many hotels before, and none of them had ever refused to use my passport as identification. The most astonishing part was when he even threatened to charge me additional taxes if I didn't provide my ID. However, I managed to convince him to accept my friend's ID, as my friend was with me at that time. In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to the manager, who ultimately helped me get the room. However, I believe it is crucial to educate the staff members and provide them with proper training. To the guest service personnel who assisted me that night, I kindly request that you enhance your customer handling skills and educate yourselves further on the matter. Thank you, Y hotel, but this will be...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel while waiting for my new debit card to arrive in the mail (a Baiduri bank ATM took it in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei). I chose it because it was the only place I could afford with my leftover cash that also had wifi. Now onto my review.
It's cheap. That's the single solitary positive thing I can say about it.
The bathrooms are disgusting. The room has an unpleasant smell but I guess it's not so bad one can't get used to it. Saying it "has free wifi" is technically true but almost feels like an exaggeration. There is wifi. It works in 5 minute intervals. I wasn't able to watch one 10 minute YouTube video off the wifi in the 9 nights I spent here. Instead I used up my sim card's data. Which is also extremely spotty around this part of town, btw. Thankfully Netflix and YouTube let you download content for offline viewing. I found myself taking a grab taxi into town to grab lunch and also predownload my content for the night. The location is God awful. The only nearby shops are across a speedway.
Again: it's cheap. That's the one and only positive thing I can...
Read more2 ⭐️. i stayed here last night. for the price of RM 98, you get a room with no complimentary drinks (coffee, tea), bed sheets with some stains (blue dye, some red dried blood ???) bathroom with no door knob, no soap, towels, hairdryer etc. the tv couldnt even turn on, and the ac had no remote control, so the temperature & mode couldnt be adjusted. i do wish there were street lights for the parking, i didnt feel safe unloading my things in darkness. the lift was under maintainence (or broken?) we had to use stairs. there is free wifi but we didnt try to connect. next time hopefully they can provide the bare necessities for RM 98 there couldve been soap, towels at least. ive stayed at many budget hotels, some even lesser then RM 70, but those still provide clean sheets and...
