Hosted my wedding ROM (@The Olive) and reception dinner (@Grand Ballroom) at Olive Tree Hotel in Feb’24. Sharing some of reviews here: Event co-ordinator (RuWei): We are so glad to have RuWei co-ordinating our wedding. Since the first visit to Olive Tree, she was able to clearly answer all our questions and articulate the wedding packages offered by Olive Tree in a very knowledgable and transparent way. We appreciate her dedication in offering us valuable insights and advises based on her experiences with past events (measurements and placement of arch for ceremony, flow of event, recommendations on color schemes, vendors and food estimation for ROM) and at the same time tries her best to accommodate our special / last minute requests; 10 months before our wedding right up till the wedding day. Our close friends who were helping us that day also gave their utmost recognition to RuWei & her team for always being on standby and is proactive in ensuring that things are being taken care of seamlessly especially whenever there are unexpected hiccups. Special thanks also to WeiWei for stepping in promptly whenever we have urgent requests.
Cocktails: Our guests loved salmon canape! Thank you for offering & suggesting that to us!
Food & ambience: We were pleasantly surprised with how good the dinner food was - and this too was a sentiment shared by our guests as we received a lot of feedback as to how good the food was - and our guests were surprised as there is usually an expectation that food quality (especially for a hotel Chinese banquet menu) will need to suffer at the expense of ambience if the wedding banquet is to be held in a hotel instead of a Chinese restaurant. That said, we are happy to say that the Olive tree excelled in both providing great food quality and a wonderful ambience. We received compliments as well that the hanging lights are very dreamy. Good job on the champagne / sparkling juice recommendation! As for the ROM ceremony, our guests enjoyed the unlimited coffee provided and also the mushroom quiche! Thank you for ensuring that the food is always refilled on time and also allowing us / made arrangements for us to bring in our nyonya kuih.
Service: We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful and courteous service from the banquet waiting staff starting from the cocktail service, thru the whole dinner all the way to the end. Our guests praised how attentive and responsive they were throughout the night - even better than some of the 5 star hotels / restaurants they’ve visited in Penang. All in all the entire dining experience was truly pleasant.
Bridal suite: spacious and beautifully decorated! Ample of space for the bridal party to get ready and capture beautiful photos in.
Areas of improvements: Limited parking Baby chairs / extra chairs for vegetarian were not provided as per listing during reception
Overall, very pleasant experience from the start until the wedding day itself. Olive Tree may be a 4 star hotel but their facilities, staffs, services and quality of food provided is definitely deserving of a 5...
Read moreFirst time explored this hotel in Bayan Lepas for it is near to industrial park and easy access to Batu Kawan Industrial Park. Came check in on Saturday afternoon, delighted that room is ready. Notice a sign on front counter saying 'Free Shuttle Bus Service to Queensbay Mall' and first service for the day is 7pm. Happily go into the room, resting and napping in a simple set up but rather comfortable room. Has earlier asked for extra bed and paid at Front Office which promised bed will be delivered in 5 minute times. Wake up from nap at about 6.30pm, get ready for the ride to Queensbay Mall. Yet the extra bed not delivered still. Go down ask concierge where the shuttle bus is stationed, greeted with reply that the service is required a day advance booking. Unable to provide unless Front Office give go ahead. Understand his limited authority, go to FO for approval myself but a stern face young officer coldly demand a day advance booking before shuttle service can be scheduled. Explain to him we have just arrived today and impossible to make advance book a requirement of which os not stated on the standie offering such service. Not surprisingly same stern and cold reiteration of advance booking come from the FO staff. In return, i say thank you for offering such a service to your hotel guest. Spoke to the concierge checking what is the take up rate of this service. And my guess is right. Well, the hotel has missed the opportinuty to serve the guest well. And the customer service from FO is at its lowest. GRAB brings us to QBM eventually. Put in a review to the hotel, a lady staff calls me the next day friendily ask if I need the shuttle service to QBM today. I say i need the servoce yesterday not today. And if you provide the service with imposition of unfriendly restriction might as well not offer such service at all. The friendly voice says thank you for your feedback and will highlight to management of your proposal. Well the hotel misses another opportunity to serve the guest well. I share this incident to my colleague and say this is a good example to remind our customer service commitment is to anticipate and meet our patient's need of care without any limitation to ourselves not to do so. Lesson learned and in healthcare we shall not miss any opportunity to serve our patient well. Lucky...
Read moreDid a 2 nights stay in August 2024. Booked a deluxe room excluding breakfast. Check-in was easy where a room deposit was charged and foreign guest tax (RM10 per night) was collected. Guest room floors are accessible only with the guest key card. Overall the room is neat and sufficient for my stay. However, I was probably expecting the hotel to be in a better condition considering that it is a relatively new hotel. Bottled water is not available though there is a huge water dispenser that provides drinkable water to guests. If you are one who has dry skin and needs skin moisturizer, do note that this hotel does not provide body creams. The shower stall was alright except that the wash basin was un-practically shallow. I had a difficult time just washing a cup or filling up the kettle with water owing to the depth of the basin. There were also some power sockets that were possibly, spoilt? There was no charge from the socket. I had to find an alternative socket to start the kettle. Though not much a television person, I have to say, the television programs/channels available are limited. I had the television turned off most of the time afterwards. Sleep is comfortable with good air-conditioning and clean linens. You might however be disturbed by the occasional speeding motorcyclists past midnight, if you are a light sleeper. For the 2 days I stayed and visited the gym, the air-conditioning in the gym was spoilt. Opening the door to the gym and you would be slapped with a damp heat. Thankfully there were no other guests using the gym at my time of visit. The pool is in a chill corner... also with no guests when I visited. Which might be scary because, if something were to happen while one was in or at the pool... who would know or can help ? On my second night, I was disturbed very much by some guests who stayed in the room adjoined to mine.. when they came back rowdy and, started banging on the adjoining door, even seeming to attempt opening the locked door. The hotel despite all that is mentioned above, is located in a very convenient location. A 10-minute car ride from the airport with plenty of dining options within walking distance. There is also a complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and Sunshine Square and Queensbay Mall on Fri, Sat,...
