Was not crazy about it. I am giving it 3 stars for the value you get. You are on Sunset beach which is nice and quiet. Not many people are here and my pictures may show why. I had a completely different impression from the beach and its location. Beach: Since you have tides here, there are only a few hours a day (in January) where you have water. You cannot really swim at all or go inside the water because the red corals are all over and you will hurt yourself. I was not able to swim here at all and did not find the site pretty. However, you can walk up a bit, 2-3 minutes and you will be able to swim in high tide. Beach and beach access is cute, shown as in the pictures posted by others. Cottage itself: very basic! We had the last available beach front cottage, the floor are all tiles. I could have used a chair or a second night desk so I would not have to put everything on the floor. A/C works well, small fridge is available and a TV we did not use. The bathroom is narrow and small, but works okay. When you take a shower, everything gets wet including the toilet everywhere. You have to remove the toilet paper and other items first. If anyone wants to use it afterwards, you have to wait until everything dries. The shower is almost right over the toilet - I did not get that design. Hot water is on demand and works great. Overall, a few touches would have gone a long way and would have made me feel more at home and cozy. Check in: Very brief - no explanation at all, where to get anything, no mentioning of breakfast, etc. No info where to get food/coffee/teas, etc. What to do, when to swim or to be careful with the corals. Not a big deal, but a bit strange. More: We received a breakfast and water which was nice: fried rice with chicken. Unfortunately we do not eat chicken, but appreciated the gesture.

Read moreThis cottage has some disappointments but it grew on us throughout the week. We rented the 1 bedroom 1 queen bed room that has an ocean view.
Pros: -Right on the beach -Lots of shade, lounge chairs and hammocks for relaxing outside. We almost never went inside except a couple hours in the heat of the day. -Least expensive beach-adjacent room we could find on Tanjung -a full kitchen is available in the common area with plates utensils and basics (oil, sauces etc)
Cons: -very tiny room with no furniture. We had to lay our clothing and luggage on the floor. The walls are white and there is no decor inside. The bed is lower than the window so you can’t view the ocean from bed. So it’s not really an ocean view room. All of this makes the room very uncomfortable. -it is a wet shower (normal in Malaysia) but the bathroom is so small and the shower head is over the toilet, making it difficult to have a comfortable shower. -no filtered water (that we know of) and we were only provide two small water bottles per day. So we had to purchase drinking water from a convenience store. -no mosquito control. Had to go inside or spray down as soon as the sun sets. -the beach in front of the cottage is rocky and ugly at low tide. Literally the only part of tanjung rhu that is like this. Probably why it is cheaper to stay here.
Ideas for improvement: -provide more drinkable water. It is the tropics after all. -add a small wardrobe or dresser to the room so people can store their belongings. -have some method of mosquito control available on the property. -communicate better with guests at check in.

Read moreIt was one of the best stays we've ever had. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet, the location is great. You open the door of your cottage and all you see is the sea. You hear the calming waves of the sea during the night. Of course, it all depends on other guests. There are sunbeds and hammocks at your disposal. There's even a small kitchen outside where you could prepare meals. The room is equipped with a small fridge, AC that works perfectly and can be set to a sleeping mode. There's WIFI that can be used on the beach and water dispenser for both cool and warm water. There are affordable restaurants within walking distance with delicious food. Everything worth seeing, including the airport, is within 30 mins distance by car. They have their own driver, Zack, who can drive you anywhere and is very helpful and attentive to your needs. You can also easily catch a taxi via app Grab. They can organize all kinds of tours and trips for you, for example, very popular Mangrove tour. Contact through Whatsapp is great. I'd say there can be one disadvantage which is a bathroom - everything is in one place so you kind of shower with the toilet, leaving it wet. But you can get used to it. We got in love with this place and Langkawi, I wish we had...
