We come to Dawan every time we visit Langkawi, and we always love the food. Everything is freshly made and all of the fish dishes are excellent. The rice and noodle dishes are also very tasty, and there's a good variety of drinks. We saw this time that they've added a selection of roti to the menu, so we'll go back to try them on another day. Prices are extremely reasonable. Be aware that because everything is cooked fresh, it can take a bit of time - this doesn't mean it's bad service, it's because the food is at its best when it's cooked to order! For a simple, delicious and budget friendly dinner in Tanjung Rhu, this for me is the place to go. The menu is also surprisingly diverse - not just Thai food as the name of the restaurant suggests - but also lots of Malaysian dishes including a wide variety of roti canai hot off the grill. The restaurant is clean and spacious - you'll see many people sitting in the open air area out front, but there is an indoor room with air-conditioning in the back as well. I'm a bit flummoxed. How is this really Thai food? Yes, there's a couple of dishes but do not even begin to compare the food here with what you get in Thailand. We had the worst beef dish I've ever had - think beef jerky cut up and served with rice. The squid was ok. The chicken dish was glutinous and odd. Unfortunately we couldn't at least soak up the weird sauce as the rice took a further 15 mins to appear (as did the cutlery). Total time from order to first dish was over an hour.
