...me and hubby were on our trip back from Maran on 16/9/2012 after the famous temple visit and prayers, and instead of taking the route to Kuantan for a break, decided to drive down to Raub instead through the Felda road...||||...arrived at Raub close to 545pm,and it was getting dark...the last time i was in Raub was 5 years ago when i got a posting there at Hospital Raub, and hubby drove me there too and he decided it was way tooo far and we rejected it.At that time the town was small and the road leading to it was narrow and full of potholes and uneven. The present road has been upgraded for a smoother ride now,and you can reach Raub faster and the ride is smoother now.The town itself has developed with a few hotels now.Why i insisted on revisiting Raub was because of the fish head curry, and we had some for dinner which was a wee bit spicy but still glorious!||||We first tried our luck at the Seri Raub hotel and it looked sleazy, then hubby said he'd pass Jelai hotel as well and then finally, there was one called "Nice stay" which hubby said looked like a motel for other activitie,After much hotel hunting,we decided on the Old Raub resthouse on a hill. The place gave an old feel of the colonial times and was a tad bit spooky. We were given a room upstairs and the air condition was busted and hot..they gave us another room and this time air-cond was a bit cool...so hubby and i sat in the lobby till they checked all the air-conditions and gave us one on the ground floor for RM120 per night with 2 twin beds....||||.....i told hubby am not gonna sleep alone and some ghost jumps into bed with me!!!,cos it was sooo old and spooky in the dark..thank god it wasn't haunted, but the other bed was left by itself!!!||||...morning greeted us with birds chirping, something unusual cos we urban people get up to the sound of blaring horns and road traffic, the air was cool and sooo peaceful...it was only 815am and we were already up for breakfast.Drove back to "Raub fish head curry house" again for breakfast and their famous "putu" had finished, hubby had thosai i had "apam" which was way to sweet and tasted of yeast!!....should have had breakfast at Marrybrown, yes Raub has Marrybrown now!"!||||...deciding there was nothing much to do in Raub,we drove back to KL driving through Bentong town...Bentong town was sooo quiet all the shops were closed for "malaysia day"...all in all it was an adventurous trip and we enjoyed it.Kuantan would have been such a bore,Raub the sleepy old hole was...

The major renovation@parts is considered completed (eg. replacing of roofing-sheets & flooring at common area and bathroom's sanitary-wares).
In the room including bathroom, not much refurbishment work is completely done.
The workmenship is worst (04 of 10) such as at ; 1). Wall finish - no proper skimming & painting. 2). Paint mark - can see clearly (door). 3). Old lockset (doors & windows) - rusty (some is malfunction).
Others ; 4). No TV channels services - inprogress-upgrading. 5). Kiblah@kiblat point-direction not indicate at the ceiling (need to use own mobile-phone to search the direction).
Hopefully the above 05 points that highlighted is temporary only and the management WILL IMPROVE it accordingly.
Things is GOOD such as ; 1). Services - friendly staff & helpful. 2). Overall areas - very clean. 3). The room is wide. 4). Easy parking (at hotel surrounding). 5). Location is strategic (close to the heart of Raub's town). 6). Easy access for searching food-stall & fast-food premises.
(Note : In front of hotel, 50m walking distance will have a Night-Market for every Saturday &...
