This Inn, challet, cabin, resort or however you want to call it is one of the strategic accomodation if you're planning for a holiday stay in Pangkor Island. It is situated a close proximity to the better side of the beach, Teluk Nipah & Coral Beach. I really like the wooden asthetic feels to it and the place even has it's own private pool if you're in for a swim. The swimming pool is safe for both kids & adults. On the 1st floor, there's a wide hangout balcony where you can chill with a group of friends. The room I booked comes with a twin sharing single bed, but I got upgraded for FREE to their King Size room since I come in a pair & also during RMCO, their accomodation peak was pretty low. Which, I'm truly grateful for their lovely hospitality & services. For each night of stay, you will be provided free breakfast next morning from 8.00am till 10.30am. You can eat however much you desired as they constantly refill the food. There's coffee, milk tea, Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak, local kuihs (currypuff, donuts, etc.) & Toast (butter/jam). They also provide rentals for bikes & scooters to explore around the island. In the evening, you can also try out some restaurants & food stalls which are walking distance from the Inn. Also, don't forget to check out the Hornbill feeding which is directly located at the opposite of another lane (Sunset Villa) from 6.00pm as it is an unforgettable experience getting to feed the birds from your own bare hands.

Getting there was not complicated. Street that inn sits by (same as OYO and Vagary) is just 5 mins from the viral lempeng pisang stall and beach where you can catch the sunset, stroll along the rousing strip of shops as well as water sports booths. The owner and staff are friendly, thus there are no complaints there. The room is decently sized and decorated. But the whole wood situation.. if it was pine wood, perhaps it won't be so bad. But this one... the smell lingers, and even Febreeze didn't help. Sheets still smelled and made it hard to sleep. To top that, walls are thin, so any noise from other guests is pretty clear and disturbs any effort to sleep or rest. Sheets are nice, though, and even had quilt, too, but we do get some itches when we wake up. I'm not sure if it's bed bugs or dust mites. Ample pillows and they are comfortable to lie upon, not too flattened or used up. Enough racks to hang clothes. Enough table space to put things. Spacious bathroom with strong water pressure. All appliances worked fine. What should be cold is cold, what should be hot is hot. There was, however, a dead lizard in our room, and 1 socket made flickering sounds while I was charging my phone, which caused quite a scare. The pool was okay, basic and clean. Breakfast food was okay, with limited options but sufficient. There is no parking on site if you will drive a car, so a motorbike is the best option.

Booked this place for a short 2 nights stay. When I took a pink taxi from the ferry Jetty to Nipah Beach, taxi uncle told me that this place is a Malay Kampung and ask me why I choose this place :( ? Upon arrival, I was greeted by none other then Joe himself. Joe is a very friendly host, check-in is a bliss. This place is only about 2 years old and the condition is still very good. There are already many review about the breakfast, pool and room. All I'll say is that it is value for money. The whole experience is more like a homestay or Airbnb. Joe has this personal touch that is very important to make guest feels comfortable and welcome. The best beaches in Pangkor is just minutes away and there are plenty of good eatery around. If you want to stay at a hotel like establishment, this is not the place for you. If you like a cosy and friendly environment, Joe fisherman Inn is the correct place for you. Joe is extremely attentive and helpful, he went the extra mile to make our short stay a memorable one. I am so glad that I made this choice and will definitely be back again. Highly recommended! Joe is an Extraordinary Host!

Stay : 15th Sept - 16th Sept.||Room Number : 32.||||I think I checked in with the owner, an Indian guy wearing glasses. When I filled in the book 'Desaru", he jokingly said 'Desaru, pantai jugak'. He is very nice and warm. We had an excellent stay here.||||Location : Tucked in the small (also quite main) street right near the Teluk Nipah beach. The hotel is easy to find and within walking distance to the beach, only 3 mins. Joe is a perfect place to stay and a very nice host. Close to the Inn, there are numerous eateries and souvenir shops. guests can just walk on the beach and pick whichever package of water activities that they wish to enjoy. During the night, Teluk Nipah is alive and you can just walk to the live band area from Joe. Overall, it is located right at the heart of everything.||||Reception : I went to a lot of traditional beach resort before and I know I can expect the reception to be small and sometimes unattended. I was right. The reception area is super small facing the main street. The check in was done by Joe himself and the owner assures us that the room will be ready by the time we finish snorkelling. Furthermore, we arrive a bit early around 11am, so of course we can just be out for hours and come back later. Joe let us keep pour rucksacks at the small room behind while we go out.||||Room : Number 32, is PERFECT. The room is just about the right size. Not too large and not too small. The bed is amazing, the decoration is simple yet nice touch. We didnt even try the TV, I mean, why would I want to watch TV while I am in Pangkor for a holiday. The bathroom is spacious. The hot water is working really well. The floor and the wall is so unique that I felt like I am back being at sea. I used to work on an ocean going vessel and some small small fisherman trawler, so this reminds me so much about that. The room is not accompanied with toothbrushes but a convenience store is 4 mins walk away, and cheap. The towel is thick but soft. AC works well||||Facility : As per picture that you can see anywhere, there is a swimming pool right in the heart of the Inn. The worker had been cleaning it nicely, I saw them picking up items from the inside of the pool. But an hour later, I saw a facemask inside the pool. Kudos for the workers for cleaning it again after that. The hotel has no elevator but equipped with a ramp. So for some old person or someone with health disability, you can email or call the Inn for room inquiry for lower ground room. Parking is available for motorcycles. Oh yeah, they do motorcycle rental too. Wifi is super strong in the room.||||Cleanliness : Top notch. The whole resort is clean. It is not shiny but super clean. Do not expect a beach resort to be spotless with all the wind and sand, so what they did was amazing.||||Breakfast : The meal was served in the small dining area right in front of the reception. During my stay, we have Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai and some traditional kuih. I gotta say, they are amazing. The Roti Canai is soft. And the curry is excellent. During our breakfast session, a pair of hornbills landed on top of the sink. Your staff throw some bread and the birds had some fun eating them. All of us were amazed by the free show that we got to see, and the birds put up a good sound. We just love them.||||Recommendations : I can see some chairs on my level. It looks like that you have a rooftop-like cafe. But the area is a bit rundown. I would love to see the are being fully used. Must be amazing.||||Satisfaction : 100%.||||I hope a lot of travellers will come and stay at this small Inn. It is amazing. And my stay had been super comfortable. Joe is accommodating and a good host. I value every time I stayed there. The next time I visit Pangkor, I will surely...

We were looking forward to staying at Joe Fisherman Inn due to the positive reviews and helpful responses when we got in touch before our stay. The location is also not far from Coral Beach which is meant to be the best on the island. ||We took a taxi from the jetty for 18 RM. The welcome was friendly & the aircon was left on before we arrived, which was a nice touch. The twin room was spacious & felt very clean. Loved the wooden floor & furnishings, which gave the room a rustic feel. There was no storage space but a seating space/ a bench & a table to place our belongings. There were also many hangers, which are always welcome. Windows are tinted which keeps out the strong sunlight & prying eyes. ||There is a terrace on the second floor so you can dry your clothes outside. There is also a sheltered seating area where you can breakfast. ||Breakfast, other than being late the first day, was really good. The food seems to be delivered daily. We had nasi lemak with ikan bills, roti canai, spring rolls & samosas, a nonya kueh with grated coconut & brown sugar, as well as kopi & teh tarik - the latter was addictive! The banana cake slathered with the slightly salted peanut butter was a revelation & taste sensation!! ||Some negatives about the room/ hotel: ||- The floor mats outside the bathroom & at the door were stained & looked filthy. Our room was cleaned after 2 days but the mats were not replaced. |- The whole bathroom, including the toilet was soaking wet when we arrived & after cleaning on the second day (we had asked for shower gel to be replenished & were offered a room clean). At least the toilet & surfaces other than the floor could have been dried. The toilet seat wasn't cleaned when the room was refreshed. |- There is a gap in the shower head connector so most of the water spurted out through the gap rather than the shower head. |- The toilet is just behind the door so if you open it wide, it would hit the toilet, which was kinda shaky!|- The room faces the pool & was pretty noisy when the place seemed fully booked on the weekend. |- There are diagonal lines across the TV images which are also very grainy; one channel keeps freezing |- There were ants, flies & mosquitoes in the room & it wasn't uncommon to wake up with bites on our arms & legs.|- The pool was welcome but didn't look very clean. |- Breakfast only starts at 8am which is pretty late. There is also limited seating. We had to insist on eating at 8am though some dishes weren't ready as we had to take some medication.|Because the breakfast starts so late, most people appeared before which meant there was likely to be overcrowding as we witnessed on our first morning as there was a massive group of guests who took over the area though they were not dining. This was immensely selfish & the guesthouse could have managed this better or staggered the breakfast times. Better yet, start early! ||Staff were generally very helpful & welcoming. As it was raining when we left, they helped us to get a taxi to town. ||The stay at Joe's was mainly fine, but we were expecting more based on the positive reviews. There are many more guesthouses in the area but not many appear on booking sites, so choices can be limited. Joe's was the best we could find on international sites for the price range & location. ||Joe's is easily accessible from the main highlights of the island - Coral Beach & Sunset View Villa to experience hornbill feeding! In fact, one of Joe's staff was feeding a hornbill when we left 🙂 ||Do beware of the monkeys which sometimes appear on the...
