Date: Check-in: 29/6/2024 Check-out: 30/6/2024
Price: RM311.04 including tax (flexi stay) purchased through the Bertam Resort website
Room type: Superior twin - pool view
Check-in/check-out: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very quick. There was quite a queue during check-in but it was very smooth and quick. Not many forms to fill out. Just provide your IC and sign. Before checking in, you can cool off with a welcome drink. The receptionist was kind and friendly. There is a security guard at the lobby entrance. **No deposit.
Check-out: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fast. Just hand over the room key/card. Don’t forget to validate the touch & go card to get free parking. It’s right next to the reception counter.
Parking: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Valet parking in front of the lobby RM30, public parking RM6 but you need to validate it at the counter before leaving for free parking. Public parking is open and requires walking and going down stairs. If it rains, you will get wet 😂 But there is plenty of parking.
Room: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The view is superb, pool view 😍😍 for my room type, there is no balcony, just a window. The bed and pillow are great. Four pillows, with an extra pillow available. There is an iron and ironing board, a mini fridge, a TV, and a prayer mat. Very clean and well-maintained. The toilet is clean, no bathtub. This is the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in, maybe because it’s new. Coincidentally, it was my birthday when I checked in. After checking in, someone knocked on the door, and when I opened it, they surprised me with a cake. I was touched 🥰🥰
Facility: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kids club: large Gym: open until 10 PM, very nice like at Celebrity Fitness. There is also a sauna. Game room, karaoke room, and cafe are also interesting, with many nice spots for OOTD (outfit of the day). There is a waterpark next door, within walking distance, and they also provide a buggy. You can say that staying here means you don’t need to go out, everything is available.
Breakfast: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The room I booked is a flexi stay, which means 24-hour check-in. If you check in at 4 PM, you check out at 4 PM. I asked at the counter if this flexi stay includes breakfast, but it’s room only. So I paid for breakfast, RM50 per head. I think it’s quite cheap for a hotel buffet breakfast. The food is ordinary, like in other hotels, with nasi lemak, noodles, roti canai, scrambled eggs, cereal, fruits, salad. Nothing special. The food tasted good, and the dining space was ample with beautiful and luxurious decoration.
Swimming Pool: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ There are two pools, one for kids and one for adults. Very spacious and beautiful. There are also nice OOTD spots by the pool. It looks even nicer at night. But the pool is only open until 7 PM, if I’m not mistaken.
This hotel is highly recommended for anyone wanting to vacation with family or friends. If you want a vacation with everything available at the hotel, you can stay here. Enjoy the facilities and also visit the waterpark. It’s really fun. Enjoy with family or friends. I wish you can experience it yourself.
We plan to repeat our stay. It’s really great. Oh yes, there are also many seminar rooms and others. Many offices hold events there, but it’s not crowded because the place is very big and spacious. Overall, we are very satisfied. Thank you, Bertam Resort Penang. Bertam Resort Penang ❤️❤️. Thanks Siti Melur for...

I'm a family of three with a preschooler.
I was disappointed with this hotel because I had wanted to visit since it opened. However, after finally going, I can definitely say once is enough for the experience. I won’t comeback.
The reason being, the hotel is not preschooler-friendly, at least for me. It’s more suited for honeymoons or healing retreats or family with high schoolers.
Having a preschooler, I would recommend staying for just one night. Spend one day at the waterpark and the next at their super large pool. After that, there isn't much else to do.
Yes, they have a library and a game room, but they are not suitable for a preschooler.
The kids' club was below par for such a highly-rated hotel. I've visited other hotels with similar ratings that had kids' clubs capable of entertaining babies to preschoolers. The bookshelf was almost empty, and there were insufficient toys. If you have a toddler under two who is easily entertained, the kids' club might be sufficient.
I gave a score of 2 because the hotel is definitely Instagram-worthy. Every spot is perfect for OOTD photos. That's all.
I have no complaints about the food. The breakfast menu and taste were pretty decent. I understand that checking in on weekdays might mean fewer varieties. The dinner at their cafe was also satisfactory. The staff is nice, and check-in and check-out were fast enough. The room was well-equipped, hence I gave solid 4 star rating.
About the waterpark, paying for it is fair, but they offer no special perks for the guests. Yes, the entry is not FREE even for guest. It’s a per entry waterpark, so you cannot re enter once you leave. The waterpark is next to the hotel within walking distance. But they’re kind enough to offer a buggy service for the return trip.
I’m uncertain if the waterpark is under the same management. The waterpark appears to be poorly maintained. The water was cloudy and dirty, the slides weren’t slippery enough causing my son to get stuck in the middle, the pool floor was damaged and had parts coming off.
The water guards were not fulfilling their duties, instead, they were seen chatting instead of ensuring safety. There was no supervision of the kids on the slides. I've been to number of similar or cheaper cost waterparks where the guards were vigilant, even on the shortest slides. Mind you ya, since the guards are not functioning, you are required to watch your child closely.
I would suggest improving the kids' club facilities and offering perks for guests, such as multiple entries to the waterpark. Additionally, my last point pertains to the need for better maintenance of the water park. It's a shame for such a beautiful hight rated hotel to fall short in...
Read moreI am writing this review while still staying at the hotel (31st August 2025 to 3rd September 2025), and so far I would describe my experience as a moderate-to-poor stay.
I checked in on 31st August 2025 for a 4D3N stay (until 3rd September 2025) as part of a birthday treat. Unfortunately, my experience so far has been disappointing and far below the standard expected of a 5-star hotel. • Upon arrival, there was no bellboy to assist with luggage. I had to carry everything myself to the counter. Only one staff member was at the front desk, and there was a long queue of guests. When it was finally my turn, the staff looked tired and did not greet me with a smile, and the check-in felt transactional rather than welcoming. • I had noted in my booking that this was for a birthday treat, but there was no gesture in the room (no cake, no decoration). For a quadruple room, amenities were incomplete (insufficient dental kits, vanity kits, no sewing kit, and missing bath toiletries). • Attempts to reach housekeeping/reception went unanswered, with calls going straight to voicemail. Even calling the hotel directly from my mobile didn’t help as the voicemail box was full. • On 1st September 2025 which is today, I was even called twice asking if I had already checked out despite clearly booking until 3rd September 2025. This shows poor coordination and a lack of system updates. • When I asked about my mocktail session the front desk staff had no idea what package I was referring to. I had to show my booking email and even then, the staff struggled to confirm it. This reflects very poor product knowledge and training.
🌟 The only saving grace was the spa experience at Kechmara Spa. Special thanks to Zaihan, who was warm, attentive, and professional. He personally called to confirm my session and greeted us with genuine hospitality. The therapists were excellent, the facilities were beautiful, and the overall experience was top-notch definitely worth coming back for the spa alone.
Overall, this hotel claims to be 5 stars, but the service, training, and experience feel closer to 2–3 stars.
To the hotel owner & the hotel management, a hotel is more than just nice facilities.
IT MUST COME WITH the people, service & value. At the moment, this hotel fails in those areas, except for the spa team who truly delivered.
The Positives: The hotel facilities are generally good, with a big swimming pool that families will enjoy. The location is convenient, with plenty of food options nearby if you prefer something outside the hotel. The spa at Kechmara Spa has been the real gem of this stay. This part of our stay genuinely felt 5-star and is something we...
