BLUE EYES HOTEL — Hotel in Penang

I underestimated this place since my first choice was another hotel with way more reviews. RM110 per night for a queen room here is surely a great value. I am staying for 2 nights. Writing this review on my first night.

Booking was a breeze, just by phone call prior coming, no deposit required. Staff very helpful with all enquiries. Payment during check-in. They also offer flexibility to pay daily so you could check-out earlier (less days than planned). Late check-out possible RM10/hour until 5pm (beyond 5pm, charge additional night).

Room is very clean, nice interior with Turkish vibe. Well functioning aircond and provided wall fan too. Clean crisp bath towels. Cosy bed. Good water pressure and instantly get warm shower no need adjusting or waiting for the water to warm up. TV with all standard local channels. Strong wifi connection. Our room on the second floor has a strip of window (not much of a view but it makes you feel less walled in and you get to know the weather).

Small, beautiful lobby filled with Turkish deco items, which are for sale too with price tags. Beautiful hallway especially the hanging Turkish lamps with motion detection.

Walkable to many shops and restaurants. There is pasar malam (night market) every Friday evening which adds up to the local experience.

Some points that may be a concern to others (not me): Rooms are at first and second floor with stairs only, no elevator. Very basic amenities: only bath towels, hard soap, floor towel mat (no smaller towels). 👍🏻 Clean and well maintained room 👍🏻 Comfy room for a budget hotel 👍🏻 Strategic location. Near to a lot of shops and restaurants. 👍🏻 Staff during check in was friendly and nice 👎🏻 Felt a bit unsafe for me cuz during my stay I could hear few guys talking loud, shouting, fighting(?) in the next room. Somebody just bumped into my room’s door twice (probably drunk or just a sober guy mistaken his room over mine) then slammed his room’s door until my baby cried. If no humans did this, then I guess… you know what i mean 👻 👻 We left the hotel at 1am and came back next morning just to pick up our bags and check out. Clean and nice deco. Appreciate the Turkish interior design with nice touches of exposed brick wall, wooden furniture (even the bed is a nice queen solid wood) and wooden tiles in the shower.
