HOTEL KAMELIA — Hotel in Penang

This hotel is situated at the happening area of Bertam. But it certainly did not live up to the expectations. Being the budget hotel, this hotel might need an upgrade or renovation. The room size is adequate. With the window all around but not allowed to open. The curtains were half fallen but thankfully still able to serve its purpose as a curtain. The toilet is not clean, with mosses growing along the pipes and wall. The weird design of the sink placement and a long pipe which carries the water around the toilet before it was drained on top of the draining hole (sharing the the same outlet as the water from shower). Next is the WiFi, i stayed at room 102. The WiFi is practically useless. The signal shows 1 to 2 bars, but it connects and disconnects multiple time and the speed was close to 0 most of the time.. it's definitely not zoom meeting friendly.. suggest for a repeater or an additional router installed at the first floor to prevent conflicting IP address. Don't get me wrong, your WiFi at the lobby area was strong and fast. But it's inconvenient for me to work in the public space. This hotel provides soap only. No shampoo or shower gel available. So be sure to bring your own.. The room floor is slightly sticky, but became slippery when your feet is wet. This is probably due to the floor was mopped only once using the detergent, leaving it till dry. Maybe you need to clean it again with water until the detergent is completely washed off.

I feel a bit annoyed when I check in as the price show in the hotel's counter is cheaper than I booked via trip.com quite a lot. This was the first time I experienced this as I am loyal member of trip.com and I always book hotel and flight ticket via trip.com. I know the processing fees may be charged so it will a bit expensive than book straight from the hotel but this is the first time the price is about RM100 difference. The location of the hotel is very good, near to many eateries but the service is not good. The floor is broken and the shower has problem. In addition the air conditioner has problem too, some times very cold while some time very hot. We couldn't sleep well due to this problem. No coffee or tea is given, no shower gel or shampoo is given too. Anyway, when I request from the trip.com, they give me back coins which worth RM 24. Thanks for the responsive live agent which I always choose to use trip.com because of they have very helpful customer...

The receptionist are rude to my family we already booked a room at 12 and they told us to wait for 2 hours to get ready the room and its still fine but not when we came back at 3pm and expect our room is ready then there's other family who waiting here as well and they get a room first even thought they just came and late than us when we ask why to the receptionist she just give us a unacceptable and unprofessional reason. Bad and poor experience 👎I really regret come here at first place because me and my family expected to get a well rest here...
