TIP: Make sure you bring cash! They don't take cards. I would suggest pesos too. The exchange rate that they offer in dollars is pretty low.
My wife and I had two plates. I had "the special" my wife had bacon pancakes. The bacon pancakes were pretty good. My special I had them make it with scrambled eggs, the scrambled eggs tasted kind of watery, like they were made from that egg substitute stuff and not real eggs. The portion sizes in "the special" felt a bit small, for the price. If I had the special again I would tell them to fry my eggs. The French toast was good, and so were the potatoes and bacon. The coffee was decent. But no flavors, just plain milk to go with it and nothing special.
We got there before 10 am on a Sunday to avoid the crowds, which I would suggest. It gets very crowded around brunch time and you will likely have to wait a while then.
We came here because we saw this chain featured on a Facebook post, I think that it was from Club de Cochis. They were actually featuring the location in Valle de Guadalupe, which is closer to Ensanada, but we found this one in Rosarito was closer to where we live. I thought the prices were a little high. But it's Rosarito and a touristy area, so I guess what do you expect.
They have some staff who speaks a little English, and have the menu in Spanish and English, but the food prices, even though in pesos, felt closer to San Diego prices. Most plates are $8 to $10 USD or $180 to $200. MXN. The choices here are more scarce than a few other places we frequent for breakfast/brunch in Rosarito. The coffee was $45 MXN, which is over $2. That's more than the local coffee shops charge for a 20 oz Americano. It's also the same price as coffee at Denny's in Chula Vista. A bit more than others.
My wife said she wasn't very impressed and it was her idea to go. I wanted to like the place more, it seems they could improve on the menu options a bit and try to keep the prices down though. I would maybe go again, but certainly not get the scrambled eggs next time.
Oh, one more thing. Not everyone likes eggs, and sadly, my wife is one of those people. If they had a few more traditional Mexican breakfast options that would be nice, like chilaquiles or enchiladas de mole, things like...
Read moreMarch 12, 2023 My girlfriend and I made a point to be here when they opened at 8AM. We were excited to eat breakfast here in spite of a few reviews saying the sausage wasn't good, and some employees werent taking their jobs seriously. So, we sat down, only ones there at 8AM on a Sunday, and asked our server about the sausage, and she got the manager to our table 30 seconds later. We showed him the very few bad reviews, only to help them improve their quality. His name is Abraham, and he explained what we already knew about how covid and other factors had upset supply chains, and the chef knew of these issues, and had been working very hard to make changes, both healthier and tastier. Abraham expressed how valued our opinions were, and he visited our table at least 8 times during our meal. The pancakes were HUGE and practically a meal in themselves. I also ordered a plate(the Lousiana)because it has everything in the breakfast world you could want, eggs, bacon, house made sausage, biscuits and gravy, cheddar cheese....OMG! I can eat....but took half of it home. The sausage is incredible! You may discard any other negative comments made now about the sausage before March of 2023 because chef has hit a home run with his new recipe. We cannot wait to return! Now a little about the staff.... Amazing! Each one takes great pride in their jobs there, and it really shows. Starting with the manager Abraham, the chef who really wanted to make breakfast an experience to remember! Thank you for your hard work! Our server was on top of it, always making sure to check on us, and the 3 who made sure our coffee was full, and by the way, the coffee was fantastic! Everyone smiles, very happy environment at Fat Cats.
We will be back! Very...
Read moreIt was soooo awesome!!! We have been waiting to go for some time. We are from Tijuana and this is located in the most turistic side of Rosarito. So it was an almost 30 minute drive. We had to wait a wile since there was a lot of people but max it was 20 min. It was so worth it. You want an american breakfast on the mexican side of the border? This is your place to go. Theyboffer big servings and it was enough to take out and eat later. Great service from the staff, everyone was nice and even if they didn't had jalapeños (a request outside of the menu from my mother in-law) a waiter resolved it and brought us some roasted chilli. They have a button on the tables to request a waiter so you don't have to yell or wave your hand. Even my picky mother-in-law enjoyed this so much and the price is worth it. Also! Big warning! They only accept CASH! They have it displayed at the entrance. There are stairs to enter, there is no ramp for disabled people and parking is limited. But even with those minor details que experience was worth it. While we were there there was a big family celebrating a b-day so they have enough room, but here is a charge for a maximum number of people so keep your party for 10 or less. I would go back to celebrate a special occasion...
