Absolutely terrible would be an understatement - although the hotel would probably takes that as a compliment . Notice all the 5 star reviews don’t have any comments
We would have checked out sooner but my family got violently ill (diarrhea & vomiting) from the food. It was poorly prepared and there were no sneeze guards at the buffet. The music was so loud that you could hear it louder than the tv which was set volume 27 to be able to hear it. When you went to the building 2 pool it was so loud from the echo and the distortion it was inaudible. It sounded like an eight year old trying to play an electric guitar. I was sick in bed all day and the music was blaring, so I couldn’t even sleep. I called down to the front desk multiple times, and they weren’t understanding nor did they turn the music down. When I felt well enough to go down to move rooms I was told that they unable to accommodate that request.
Our room had not one painting or art work only a mirror, and that was pretty much the whole hotel. It was basically a lack of caring or pride for the property. The lounge chairs were all mismatched with dry-rotting mesh and the umbrella tables next to them had dried food on it that looked like it wasn’t cleaned in weeks. The pool had a Snickers wrapper it in for more than 24 hours.
The employees, especially the front desk were beyond rude, and just didn’t care about the guest’s experience. There were a few notable exceptions Carlos and Jose both waiters were very nice, and the doorman was also very nice.
We checked in on the Dec. 22 and checked out Christmas Eve Morning, 24th. They also said that they would not refund me.
To sum up this place, we missed two days of our vacation, had to leave Christmas Eve morning, and still have the lingering effects of food poisoning. Now I’m fighting with the booking agency, Amex, and the hotel to refund me my money. We’ve been to Cancun five times in the past three years and always had a great experience. There’s a lot more I could say about this place but me / my family’s experience is on par with everyone else’s. I’m 49 years old and have traveled a fair amount in my life. That said I have only checked out early from a hotel room once in my life. This was it. If what you read doesn’t stop you from going to this place all I can say is - Good Luck!!
Ocean View Cancun Arenas instead of a canned response pretending that you care - just refund me my money so this horrible experience can all be over. And it’s funny that all the 5 star reviews don’t have any comments, which makes me believe that...
Read moreWorst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The pictures online are so far from reality it’s terrifying. Mold in bathroom, not just ours but my father-in-law’s too, none of the amenities they list for the rooms are there (no coffee maker, body wash, alarm clocks, etc), they only serve food at certain times so if you’re hungry between breakfast, lunch, or dinner then good luck (not really all inclusive), you can’t even use the beach because of all the seaweed and garbage on shore, the pool in the photos isn’t the actual pool, they have four and all are just as nasty and old, our sheets had stains all over them, hair throughout the room, and I don’t know what was splashed up the mirror but it looked like blood. So, clearly no one cleaned our room after its last use. We immediately started looking for alternative hotels in the area and visited a few for the exact same price but actually 4/5 star places!!! This place is horrible and I can’t believe they take people's money and lie to them about what they get. Our ‘black out shade’ was covered in holes and didn’t close all the way so my daughter couldn’t get a decent nap during the days. Scuffs and marks all over the walls, rusted end table light, WiFi never works 100% so forget about bringing devices…
The food? You’ll get a stomach ache if you aren’t used to gallons of oil used in your meals. Tasteless and wet, everything. It’s not that hard to make a decent egg but they’ve mastered failing at it. Hopefully you like rap music too because that’s all they blast. It’s actually surprisingly loud, you can’t talk without yelling and you hear it from inside your room no matter where you are.
Oh, all the elevators were out of order except for one, parking is an absolute nightmare, and the entire building needs painted, electrical work, updating, etc. During our stay my 14 month old daughter actually developed a pretty bad cough, probably from the moldy room. That, or the unbelievably dirty registers in the room that pour over you as your sleep…Seriously, look anywhere else possible before even considering this place. It’s a nightmare. All inclusive is such a joke here.
Still trying to get in touch with the agency but they avoid you so I’ll just keep posting updates of our...
Read moreI want to say from the get-go that my wife and I stayed there for 4.5 weeks when the virus shut down almost all the other hotels in Cancun.|I figured the Holiday Inn brand can’t be that bad. We were happy to at least find a place that was opened.|Well, it’s no longer named Holiday Inn. Their name is now “Ocean View Cancun Arenas”. |I think they lost their franchise or just didn’t want to pay the franchise fees.||First, all the staff in all areas were extremely friendly.|The location is quite close to the downtown area but still on the beach. |Also, it’s got to be one of the least expensive hotels in the whole 15 mile strip of hotels. That’s about it. There’s a hostel that’s cheaper.||Now the negatives:|Unfortunately the property is very old. (40-45 years)|One of the two main elevators was broken almost the whole time. Another elevator was also out of service the last week.||The internet was non-existent or very poor. My wife had to go to the lobby nightly to work as that had WiFi (barely). Unfortunately the lobby also had mosquitoes and no a/c.||The hot water also was non-existent or Luke warm 90% of the whole stay.||Perhaps the worst part was the lack of a beach or clean water. The rocky 2 meter strip does not constitute a beach. The mucky seaweed covers most of the small swimming area which is seasonal I admit. But the thing is there are boar piers on both sides and oil and gasoline make the water dirty. I did not swim there even once! The stock photos are years old. The ocean progressed inward and now there’s no space for lounge chairs.||Also unacceptable was the odor of raw sewage coming from the pipes in the bathroom. Obviously the pipes in the building need to be changed. We had changed rooms a couple of times.||The food was ok though not great for a vegetarian.|The waiters rarely got the order correct but they were all so friendly.||Antonio, the entertainment guy was great and livened up the pool area.||So, I hate to be negative overall but the place needs work. It’s frequented by locals I believe whose budget is limited.||Just don’t expect much and you’ll be...
