This hotel was the only available option during our weekend stay, we were there only for a single night but it is truly one of the most mediocre stays we’ve had. Although a lot of things are bad, there are some things that can be saved and maybe with some changes they can go from 2 stars rating to 3 stars, nothing more. Let’s start with price to room quality: We paid ~ $220 for a room with a single window facing a hallway, no natural light included in the price. The room itself was meh, but for the price, you expect better. The worst thing about this hotel is their check in policies; first of all they will NOT give you your room before 3PM. I’m not sure if they are backlogged with cleaning or short in staff but they are adamant to give something earlier even if you offer to pay extra. Everyone is in the same boat so usually everyone is in a queue at 3PM. We came at 3 exactly and there were 5 persons ahead of us, it took the staff 30 min + to process everyone, they have the slowest check in experience I’ve seen in my life with multiple steps, signing papers and them taking your identification to scan those who knows why. They are also like hawks asking for how many people per room and asking ages as well, basically trying to milk down to the last cent. The next awful thing is the parking situation. They tell you that if you are coming in late you will not get a parking spot on premise but you have to park in another lot about a block away through the downtown of Ensenada. No parking for this price?! In 2022?! In this economy?! What kind of joke is this? If I’m a guest I should be at least assured a parking spot, more over if you have multiple rooms, this is beyond stupid, do they have more rooms than parking spots? Who planned that? Is anyone squatting multiple parkings? Anyways, if you come late be prepared to walk the empty streets in the night risking getting mugged.
The only reason why I’m not giving this garbage hotel a 1 star rating is because I genuinely felt that the room was clean when we entered so props to the cleaning staff that they are the only ones pulling their weight, but in general, not...

Read moreI had no problem with our rooms, but I booked 2 rooms for 3 nights for my own wedding months in advance, paid up-front, and when we arrived late at night the night before our wedding in September of last year, we were told we had to show the same card with which we made the reservation. I was tired and just wanted to sleep, so I didn’t find it in my wallet, so I was told that we needed to pay again, and then deal with my bank yo get one of the payments refunded. I thought this didn’t make any sense, but I was too stressed out and tired to argue. I paid for the 2 rooms for 3 nights again. When I returned to the U.S., I contacted the person who had helped me set-up the group rate for my wedding, as some wedding guests also stayed at this hotel due to their centralized location, and she said I could send her a picture of the credit card I initially used to pay for the rooms with my reservation i formation, which I did, and she said they would contact me. After some emails back and forth, i was told I had to cancel my initial payment with my bank, and when they contact the hotel to confirm, they would reimburse me. I called to see if a manager could help me cancel the last payment, since it was the most recent (it had been many months since the initial payment), and this person insisted that only the first payment could be returned. I kept insisting if an exception could be made, to cancel the last payment, and nothing. After over 4 months of my stay there, I still haven’t gotten my money back for the double payment. When I talked to personnel of Hotel Coral, which is a much nicer hotel in Ensenada, they didn’t understand why the policies at Hotel Baja Inn (Hotel Cortez) were so strict. They said they shouldn’t have charged me again for the 2 rooms since they were paid online, and I confirmed it is me the person who made the reservation (I showed my ID). My wedding guests were happy staying at this hotel, due to its location, but I won’t be...
