Location: Was in Zihuatanejo for a wedding and this spot, which was perfect for my partner and I because it was it was a bit more secluded (farther from the downtown areas) but with good access to the beach and the main road to get to the wedding venue.
Service: Humberto was our main point of contact and was super accessible over email/Whatsapp even before the visit. Payment process was extremely transparent. He brought us to our room when we checked in. Each morning breakfast was made to order by Jesus. There were good accommodations to my dietary restrictions and we were always asked if we wanted seconds :-). H helped us book taxis as well each day, and provided personalized recommendations for restaurants, activities and events in the area (festival, bike trail, snorkeling - none of which we ended up doing due to laziness). When I asked, H said that the property just doesn't do bookings when the two are on vacation which made sense given that half of our experience here was is the actual owners' active hospitality!
Overall appearance: Pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the actual property is. From the pictures online it just looked like a boring building but there are beautiful tile decorations embedded into the walls along the hallways and floors, and all of the furniture/plants/decorations even things like cups/mugs are very tasteful and intentional — Definitely exceeded our expectations.
Other: You will meet Tomas, the owners' very friendly cat, and they also have dogs (who don't freely roam). Overall was quiet in the property itself since the rooms are pretty separated, and the other guests we met at breakfast seemed very nice! Sometimes at night there was noise from events at other properties across the hill but it didn't keep us awake. We enjoyed lounging by the pools. the area by the patio level pool is quiet hot and the rooftop pool is a bit cooler and has...
Read moreWow! Words cannot describe how wonderful a stay in this gorgeous BnB is!!! Every morning you wake up to a view of the ocean, and a forest of palm trees and all sorts of other tropical plants. Then you go up to the rooftop pool deck for a delicious breakfast made by one of the owner’s, Jesus, who is basically a master chef. The breakfast is consistently so delicious, and also healthy and hearty! My room had everything I needed and more, the view was just spectacular, the hammock and seating area on the terrace was so relaxing. The bed was really comfortable and king size, it was nice to just lounge and watch some Netflix on the smart tv before bed. The room was very spacious and impeccably clean. The towels smelled soo lovely and fresh. There was ample space to hang things and shelving and drawers for storage. My room had a coffee maker which Umberto took the time to show me how to use, and a mini fridge with refreshments and space for my own food and drinks as well, along with a freezer. Umberto and Jesus as hosts were just wonderful. Umberto would stay upstairs while I ate my breakfast and chat with me and tell me interesting stories about the BnB and how it came to be, about the area and the land, and also about himself, which fascinated me and inspired me. I was meant to stay three days in Zihua but I ended up staying 7. The area of Playa la Ropa is really nice too, there are restaurants nearby, and the beach, of course, with loads of activities to do, and cheap massages galore. I highly recommend this BnB to everyone, it just really makes your vacation so special and unforgettable! I will definitely be back! Than you to Umberto and Jesus for a wonderful stay at your...
Read moreCasa Arcoiris is truly a hidden gem. It turned out to be the perfect home base for relaxing and exploring all that Zihuatanejo has to offer.
The location is a short walk from La Ropa, the most beautiful beach in Zihua. There are many delicious restaurants in this neighborhood, and it's an inexpensive taxi ride to the city center. However, unwinding at the rooftop pool with panoramic views of Zihua bay was probably my favorite experience of the trip.
You can feel all of the attention to detail that Jesus & Humberto have built into the space and decor. Our room was immaculately clean with glass doors opening to a large deck including a hammock. The filtered water and coffee provided, hot shower, blackout curtains, Netflix, AC, and fast WiFi made for an extremely comfortable stay. I already miss falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle and rain.
Although we didn't have the pleasure of meeting Humberto, Jesus went above & beyond as a host. He is an incredible cook, and his homemade breakfasts with fresh eggs from their chickens were some of my favorite meals of the trip. He even made my birthday an extra special experience. You can't go wrong with any of his local recommendations or those on the Google map they provide prior to arrival.
We will be...
