BRING YOUR OWN WATER!!
Providing one bottle of water a day and telling us the water is safe for them (the staff/locals) to drink but not guaranteeing it is for us as the paying guests is crazy. Why have a refrigerator with ice/water if it's not safe for all? We had to request 4 bottles (per person) as the 2 started with did not get replaced. They suggested we get water from town...so go down this giant hill from the resort to get drinking water...(we had Uber eats deliver jugs).
The place is pretty and has a lovely view, but it's rather surprising to see the prices! (And overpriced bottled water!!)
The bathroom towels are like sandpaper!!
Went to the roof top restaurant and I left hungry (so glad I asked for more bread!), paid $30 for a salad and was charged more for my one glass of water than the menu had it listed for.
The room is huge, so much wasted space it's very odd. Also cameras are everywhere! Not one of the 5 pools is really for swimming, all of them are rather shallow. The swim up bar has jets and a waterfall, but they don't have them consistently running even when occupied. Half of the hot tub jets worked half the time we used it, being told this by other guests and then experiencing it ourselves.
The snack bar is "open" I guess, the kitchen is empty, pretty sure they are getting food from the roof top restaurant and bringing it down the elevator (confirmed).
We didn't get turn down service the first night even though the sign was out and the service cart was at the room across the hall. I spoke with an employee and he said he would take care of it (I asked if I should check with another employee and he said no) then went swimming, nothing happened. I called after nothing on the second night after explaining turn down service to 3 employees over the phone and was asked if I wanted room service, I was told we had valuables out so the maid didn't leave our water and chocolate. I asked if we needed to pack out bags for the service as no valuables were out in the bedroom, he sent someone. She came by and handed me the chocolate and left the water. Again odd and not turndown service.
Oh boy! Went to the front desk to request the chocolate we were not given on night one. First excuse you left valuables out, second excuse we left the do not disturb sign out (we did not), third excuse we were in the room, fourth excuse AMENITIES DON'T START THE FIRST NIGHT OF YOUR STAY. They had one box at the desk we should have had two but I exhausted my efforts and walked away with one box of two chocolates, instead of two for all four of us. Don't get tricked by the smile, water and cool towel when you check in, service drops off after that..just a smile with no customer service.
So it's pretty, pricey, and leaves a lot to be desired, don't look too close into the system as a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA nice location if you want to have a peace and quiet vacation.
Room: -The room that weāve got was extremely huge, nice view, spacious for me and my husband. -Was it clean everyday by housekeeper? No but we let it go since we donāt really make a mess. Make sure you call them and remind them to clean your room if you needed to.
Drinking water supply: they mentioned that they will give you a bottled water everyday, but you have to wait around the ādelivery timeā between 5pm-9pm. Most of the time they donāt deliver it to us so we have to call front desk and better yet buy your own water!
Food: -Complimentary breakfast, the options were limited. I hope they added more or maybe different options, a variety. They have American breakfast which is pancake and sausage, a croissant that you will be lucky if you get one and omelette if you ask for it. However, I salute them for giving me coffee in time. :)
-Snack bar: they say they have it but itās always closed.
-Pool bar: drinks were okay (Iāve got better drinks from outside hotel) QR code menu was not working to order drinks, fyi.
-Restaurant on top floor: it has a majestic view if youāre in for the view to be honest. The food was okay 6/10 and very pricey. You might want to check other restaurants and compare prices. Or unless you like more the view then maybe itās the place for you.
-Spa/massage: this is the highlight of our stay in this hotel. We actually thinking if we should try it since it is really pricey but it turns out to be worth it. Service of the ladies that attended us was good and massage was worth the price. 10/10.
-Staff: they are friendly, will greet you everyday when they meet you in the hallway or anywhere. The only thing I wish they could change is that, if they can stop asking the guests on which room they are after you get back to the hotel. I mean, I saw that it says itās 5 stars hotel so Iām assuming that itās not necessary to ask for a 5 star hotel. Just my thoughts.
-Pool: they have 1 pool on the top floor, and 3 pools on the 2nd floor. Iāve seen that theyāve been cleaning it everyday. So itās a good thing.
-Gym: is in the basement, felt like somehow suffocating. It has a strong smell too, not sure what it is but could be since itās in the basement plus the moisture. Thereās some few machines, dumbbells are rusty.
-Location of the hotel is at least 8- 10 mins away (via Uber) from Zona Romantica. The only thing I didnāt like is that since itās very secluded and away, all of the cars that weāve rode onto going to or out the hotel is that cars are suffering especially when itās raining since the location is uphill plus the rocky road.
Take away: Our hotel stay was good. We enjoyed peace and quiet, there are some things that needed improvement but overall, we got the rest that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked the hotel at the suggestion of a friend who would be staying at the same time. This hotel is much more expensive than we would typically pay but we found a reasonable deal online. What we got for the high price was a luxury room for two with the expectation of two double beds but we got one bed with a couch in the living room. The room was reported as able to sleep 4 but 2 would have been on the futon style bed. There was a kitchen in the room but we had no intention of cooking. Possibly a good thing as no pots or pans were provided for the range top. The balcony had a good view. Breakfast was included and the morning meal was delicious. The room is small and if the hotel is nearing capacity you might be facing with a wait. All 4 pools and 2 hot tubs were open and available as advertised. One of the 2 towers seemed to be empyof guests and there were very few people on deck. No wait for a deck chair. Perhaps in response to he low number of guests the restaurants appeared to be closed and the rooftop "Gin Joint" was vacant of employees and patrons. In spite of the appearance we were able to order from the daytime menu at any time and have service in any of the accessible locations. The top floor was perfect for watching the spectacular sunset over the Pacific. If the sky is clear take the time to go up top to watch the sunset. Trips into town were problematic. Too far to walk, no regular shuttle meant taxi or Uber. The hotel staff were clearly able to arrange for transportation but we opted for Uber. The staff monitored the coming and going of guests and cars. With a breakfast included and a luxury room there was still an expectation to tip for the included amenities and buy meals as needed. The food we did buy for lunch was delicious but there is more variety at a lower price down in town. It is hard to argue for or against eating at the resort. One afternoon we did hear some rather alarming construction noise in our room. When we went out to the pool area we couldn't hear a thing and the day was still relaxing. This resort is clearly geared towards the financially secure traveller. Prices are higher than what is available in town closer to the beaches and tipping is an ever present undercurrent. If money is not a controlling factor in your travel plans the the Grand Miramar will probably meet your expectations and needs. There are a few negative reviews but they seem to be an anomaly amongst many...
